Are you planning on bringing a moving truck for your virginic trip to Burning Man? You seem to be taking so much crap, that you are going to have to buy another ticket for the semi driver to get in to the event!
Think more minimalsit and less maximilist and you will be a happier little dude!

A shelter and a bike is just the start. Wait 'til you start making your real list and you will see what I mean.

So, cullen, is this the first unduly nasty comment you've received from a board member? It won't be the last.

Of course, I'm one of the main offenders, but you won't hold that against me, will you?

not too radical, i kinda have two ideas in my head and i'm not sure if i can merge them the way i want or if I'll need more experience before being able to pull it off.

Ignore this ridiculous nonsense! I took a truck and trailer FULL of shit my first year, and more every year since!
A shelter and a custom trike is a MINIMAL set of equipment! Shambala is apparently not one of the people that can handle logistics well. If everyone was like that most of BM wouldn't happen.

Shambala, I hope you enjoy all the bars and camps and mutant vehicles and art projects that people who DO step up and transport to the desert bring for your no-load self to enjoy.

I will back off from the suggestion of packing lighter for the first year. I have been attending for 8 years and only wanted poor cullen to consider his 1 week, 3000 mile drive across the country with all that stuff. I have about the same distance to travel and brought an ArtCar with me the last few years.
Also, your mind tends to play tricks on you the first year with every scenario of things you may need. With every "what if" thing, you will really load yourself down.
With all that said, I apologize for what may have come across as snarky and only ask that you consider all the logistics of moving everything that distance.

I hear ya. I am one to over pack my self in to an annoying trip. Heading to the 09 burn for the first time and in my head I already have 2 trucks full of shit. Less is more, for sure.

Well OK there is something to be said for traveling light.
But you gotta bring your cool shit too. Most BM stuff, particularly playa transportation stuff, isn't good for anything else!

here are some sites that have trike conversion kits for two wheel bike frames. I've been thinking about making one, and would bring it partially disassembled in my little hatchback car. You don't need a truck or van, just take things apart some.
