I'm wondering...most of the people that have posted about being robbed or their tents being pilfered through...were you camping alone or with a theme camp?

I have always camped with a theme camp where everyone knows everyone else and there is usually someone around all the time. I think that might really be a big deterrent to anyone thinking about stealing anything from our camp-mates.

Having visible activity definitely seems to help, except for bike theft.

In Illumination Village I had no theft issues, but I did have inexplicable gifts left in my tent.
Still wondering where the life size standup fireman came from.

Wow, I just saw this thread..... Artcriminal, it truely saddens me that there are Asshats at the event (especially that late in the event), that feel they can snag peoples things, when they are "gifted to" all week.

We had a couple of thefts this year, along with "wander-ers" in our back-camp area. As a community, it would be fun to string them up and place them in the courtyard for public humiliation.... before sending them out the gate.

If you have any pictures of the coat, please post it here. Maybe someone will spot it........

Here's an image of the hood of the coat. I want to find the bastard and take him to TOA and have him flogged till I feel better and that could take a while. "I didn't believe that at all. Do it again with more feeling"

Anyone have any experience with these or any other cargo trackers?

We're with Avalon Village too--Uncharted Territories. Well, that just shoots that theory all to hell. Too bad that shit has to happen.

Burn nights are particularly bad for theft because often the whole camp goes out to be part of it. I’ve heard of camps getting generators, electronics and other big money items stolen during the burns. It's hard to say how common it really is, there is a degree of Black Rock urban myth that could be making it seem more common than it is. Just the same I think it’s a good idea to lock up any thing some “evil doersâ€

One year I decided that I had had enough of the mob at Burn Night and stayed back in Hushville doing "neighborhood watch". Thought I'd collared a camp burglar but when I moved in to investigate I found that it was two campmates "celebrating".
I car-camp, and ALWAYS lock it if I'm going to be away. Never lost anything, but I've locked the keys inside about a million times. Thankfully, from Year One I've realized that I'm gonna be out of whack from the big drive/altitude/party favors and have always worn a spare key on a stout lanyard.
