Hurricane Carter was a boxer who was wrongly convicted of murder in Patterson, New Jersey. Bob Dylan wrote a song that eventually led to Carter's release from Prison. I don't think he is governor of anything.

Actually, this is the principal of how our laws are enforced. There isn't ever enough man power to catch and punish everyone that breaks the law. So, you catch those you can, make sure everyone knows that they were caught and punished; and hopefully that will be a deterrent to others breaking the law in fear that they could be caught.

The most notable example of this is how police now enforce prostitution laws--they now seek to embarrass the Johns by publishing their names and pictures to the public. They know they won't be able to catch them all, but they are hoping that the threat of possibly being publicly humiliated will be a big deterrent to others.

We we're all disappointed to see where Obama's campaign money was coming from. When he did an immediate payback to AIPAC with his chief of staff, we hoped that he would pick some populists instead of all money-power people. I'm not saying that socialism is good, but we need a break from the fools that brought us unending war and collapse.
The former chief strategist from JP Morgan is calling for a depression worse than the first one. Soros is calling for a depression.
if Obama picks the people who caused the problem,,, to fix the problem, we don't have a prayer. The bankers are only concerned with saving the banks. They even believe that the economy will rebound if the banks are saved. It won't FUCKING happen. Not without jobs.

This is an article with comments from New York;

What is Obama thinking of?
By Jerry Mazza
Online Journal Associate Editor

Barack, my brother. Mr. President-elect, what is going through your head? Rahm Israel Emmanuel for White House Chief of Staff? Rahm, who fought with the Israeli Army in the Gulf war, whose father Benjamin fought with the Irgun gang, the Zionist terror bombers of the King David Hotel; Rahm, the 2001 Freddie Mac board member involved with campaign scandals and contributions, personally raking in $231,655. I mean, just look in that guy’s eyes, scary. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

You are hanging out with guys whose rap sheets go deeper than anyone you met in South Chicago. Like Larry Summers, key lobbyist for the repeal of the Glass Steagall Act, after his 1999 Clinton appointment, leading the wolf pack to the Financial Services Modernization Act, to gut stock market regulation with all the predatory practices that put us in our present pickle. Larry who, as chief economist for the World Bank, actually wanted to import toxic garbage to poor Third World countries because the people were going to die younger anyway. Can you believe that, brother? David Rockefeller’s boy! Goldman Sachs Consultant, managing director D.E. Shaw Hedge Fund Group (gambling casino).

Jesus, this is the guy you want to run the Treasury? He’s as toxic as Paulson and then some.

And Paul Volker, former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, 1980s Reagan era major player in kicking off financial deregulations, which ended in major bankruptcies, junk-bond mergers and acquisitions, climaxed by the 1987 Black Monday stock market crash. You want him to straighten out the crooks on Wall Street; him to avoid another crash? Good luck, my brother.

And Timothy Geithner, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the powerhouse financial institution in America. Tim, former Clinton Treasury official, ex-employee of Kissinger Associations, senior exec at the IMF, shapes finance policy behind the scenes, hangs with the Council on Foreign Relations. Do you really want him around?

Michael Chossudovsky in his article, Who are the Architects of Economic Collapse, said the above boys, along with â€

I'm not sure you're right there, JK.
I'm pretty sure, that, CHP, if you're going with traffic, can't single you out......they may do it, but, you, IIRC, can beat the ticket in court......unequal application of the law........

of course, I can, and have been, wrong........

i think JK is right (for once ). a while ago i heard a news story that some lady was pulled over for speeding ... when she argued that she was going with the flow of traffic, the cop just told her ... yes, but you were speeding, were you not? the news story was clearly a warning to get people to slow down, rather than an unfair cop story.

anyone who drives in LA knows you can often find a line of 10 cars going 80 or so ... there is no way the cops can pull them all over...

6:30 am on any Los Angeles Fwy, the fast lane will be moving at at least 80mph. these people have all stopped at Starbucks. they are all race car wannabees and they are bumper to bumper at 80.. no accidents among them though.

It was a nice gesture to offer Clinton the State department position, but I'd rather see it go to Richardson. It's too important to be handed out as a favor.

i would think hillary is as qualified as any democrat, actually, considering that she has bill with her... there isn't much going on that those two don't know, and they are sneaky. richardson always strikes me as too nice, and too honest, to deal with some of the nasty characters out there. IMHO.

Sadly ygmir and I discussed starting a thread,,, "Survival" The US is supported by foreign bond buyers. Saudi, Iran and others started buying up gold after the election. What does that say for their confidence in our paper? Obama might have inspired many people but, our creditors don't seem impressed.
It doesn't look like we'll get the changes that we need. It remains to be seen. He's going to review all and reverse some,,,, of bush's executive orders. He doesn't plan to wait for congress to make changes. That should be a good indicator of what is high on his list. I can't believe that he's still looking for Bin Laden. :?

There isn't much possibility of a second term. People are going to be so disappointed that they're going to turn on him. It doesn't matter that his hands are tied by economic realities.
He could take that as a given and blow his moneyed supporters out of the water.
Reportedly JFK signed the orders to get rid of both the CIA and the FED before he went to Dallas. Upon later investigation the bills were unsigned.
Imagine if Obama issued executive orders to eliminate both of these institutions. He would definitely have to cut down on public appearances. Hope for the best,

Y'know, I was gonna post on my delight in seeing this thread languish. Trust DVD to kill the delight.

And I'd be more concerned had Bush put his hand out to have it shaken only to be rebuffed. THAT would say something. This looks like it's saying that he's got a cold or something--as all the people 'rebuffing him' are smiling and chatting with him.

Here's a little 'FYI' for ya, DVD--that kind of schoolyard dis isn't really done on the world leader level.

But hey, let's google 'Bush' abd 'bully' to make our point--and what do we get? In 8 years, the millions of lefties who've been whining about how Bush is a bully can only manage to generate 2 million+ hits? That's pathetic.

Hey, didn't I just say something like that? Great way to bring the spice back, DVD. It's like you dolled yourself up in some sexy lingerie and got a brazilian....

Reagan, Bush, Bush, Dole, Bush, Bush, McCain.

No regrets. No illusions. You look at them, decide who's least crappy, and take the crap you get. Don't like them, not at all, but they've left me pretty much alone.

Clinton screwed with me. Made my job harder, made some stuff I need more expensive. That's a no-no.

Like I said, here's how I tend to read it--on the fed level, Rs tend to talk stupid*, but they don't tend to DO a whole lot of stupid. Ds talk smart*, but tend to DO a lot of stupid.

Locally, it's a toss up.

*stupid here is defined as things I don't like or that I feel would impact my life negatively
*smart here is defined as things I do like and things I feel would impact my life positively

I'd say he's written how most people think:

if it's good for me, then, it's good, smart, whatever descriptive you choose.

etc, etc..............

if we agree, it's good.........

if I think it's good, or positive, then it's good.....

It can only be that way from our individaul perspectives......each of us, has, our own........
and, our visions and persptectives on everything is always about us.......it's how we "see" it..........

IMHO, that is...........

Looks like nobody likes him and they aren't afraid to show it now.

Bush is a disgrace. Good riddance. Couldn't have been a better post to revive this thread!
