Greetings from a 2010-er...

Post by Agent Ginger » Sun Nov 16, 2008 3:13 pm

So, because of various issues (money, planning, the fact that I'm moving cross-country in a couple weeks and have to pay for all of THAT shit), I can't make Burning Man '09. I know this in advance. But I'm definitely wanting to get a feel for this crowd beforehand. I'm planning on coming with at least one, possibly as many as six of my friends, possibly trying to do an art car. That's not exactly my department, and we don't have the 2010 theme yet (duh), so that's less of an issue at the moment.

I've heard about Burning Man for... years, really. And every so often, I would get this deep and burning desire to go. But many things stood in the way. Lack of money, the fact that (for the first few years) I was underaged, lack of my own transportation, lack of people to go with, as I'm a little scared to go COMPLETELY alone. But now... Well, the money thing will still be somewhat problematic, but not as much as it once would've been. I'm twenty-two years old (and will be twenty-four by the time BM 2010 rolls around), have my own wheels, and have (as previously stated) friends coming with. I'm REALLY looking forward to getting to experience it, though it'll be a good year and a half (plus) before that actually happens.

Basically... I just wanted to say hello, let everyone know I'll be hanging about for the next couple of years asking questions, piping up with opinions, and mostly just lurking.

Oh, and any information on Tempe, AZ Burners (as that's where I'm going to be, come Burning Time) and how to get ahold of them would be appreciated. :)

it may not be here by then.

sell all of your shit, because it is just that, shit...

Tempe, arizona is spitting distance from BRC, you have no justifiable excuse as to why you cannot attend this year, except maybe that you're a pussy.

The money you covet will soon be worthless.

whatever you value will be valueless.

your life as you know it is pathetic and meaningless compared to your life after burning, which will be complete, and full.

you need to burn the man, and you cannot wait until 2010

it will be too late. Do you want to be Left Out?

i think not.

ok, larry, now send me my fifty bucks, i want cash, not that BRC Hedge fund options you're pushing off to the DPW

Hey there, welcome to eplaya.

What the heck happened? I pushed off going my first time (8 years ago) but once I got there, I was kicking myself for taking so long. Nearly everything takes a back seat to attending for me. This year my wife had to move my son into college without my help because it started in the middle of Burning Man. I could have left a day early to help, but not miss the event.
I guess you won't know what I mean unless you go for the first time. 2010 is a long way off and who knows what the future brings. Good luck with 2010!

yeah i'm moving cross country and all that jazz. but i have to condense everything I own onto a train headed for the West Coast. Yes, that is 5 bags maximum, and my kitty will be traveling latter (insert kitty joke here)....

oh yeah and i havn't figured out where to go after burning man yet.

so burning I will be a BR citizen for a week without a dual-citizenship.

moral is: less is more. Or is more less? or.. both?

this is relevant.

p.s. can i bum a ride?

Now look at that, you scared off Ginger. We'll never have meet our quota for next year if you keep doing that.

There is 19 months for the missionaries to find and bring Ginger to Burning Man. The first time is always the hardest and then they usually come back on their own. :D
Oh playa take me back!

It definitely helps to be used to the altitude.
But it's only in the fifties in Kabul now.

You need to step up the pace my child. You are not getting any younger and there is an age cut off. Do what ever it takes and drag your sorry ass out to the playa for some good old fashioned fun. HEE-HEE Just take the yellow pill and you will enjoy.
