Coming for the first time in 2009
Coming for the first time in 2009
Hello, one and all; my name's JD, and I hail from the gray cookie-cutter suburbs of Massachusetts, where I'm currently an undergraduate student; I wanted to major in People, but that wasn't on the books, so I opted for a double major in Psychology and Philosophy. I haven't learned anything particularly meaningful yet, but I'm trying to stay optimistic.
I've been wanting to go to Burning Man since it occurred to me that the bland suburban life isn't exactly the Real Thing, and I'm hoping to find something Real when I go for my first time in 2009. Although I turned eighteen last year, my plans for attending the 2008 festival unfortunately fell short when I had to throw all of my money towards this "education" thing.
I'm hoping to find other burners from the Greater Boston area, and hopefully to join a theme camp so I can meet some new people and contribute my share to the experience.
That was... Too long, wasn't it? Sorry. :-p

Hi JD! I too am from the gray cookie cutter area. Burning Man does help you change your perspective as well as meet some very nice people along the way. There is a fairly large Boston Burner community that you can join up with from the main page of the Burning Man website. There are also weekly meet and greets that are in Cambridge I believe.
By the way, what town are you in?

Yes, Bridgewater State, I know it well. I am down the road a bit. I work in Avon and live not far from there! I hope you follow through and make it to Burning Man this year. The first time is a bit overwhelming, but it's well worth all the effort.Quix wrote:Thanks for your hospitality, everyone.
I go to Bridgewater State College, and my parents' house is a few miles away from there. I'm planning on getting my own place, as close to the city as I can afford, once school lets out for the summer, but I'm not sure where I'll end up yet.
I hope to see you on the playa!

Ah, grasshopper. One must learn to discern the snark from the unsnark if one is to participate on the eplaya, lest one's feelings be forever bruised.
A plan is what you vary from.
Destiny Lounge 3D will be at Bradbury and 3:15 this year as a part of the 404: Village Not Found group of camps! Come see us!
