Pondering the Twinkie

Post by Simon of the Playa » Mon Nov 10, 2008 6:13 am

PLEASE refrain from making the obvious jokes about Asians, Gay Asians, and
super-effeminate raver boys.

Twinkies were never meant to be maligned or reduced to colloquillisms of San Francisco, but are actually, the Snack Food of the Ages.

new things are brewing at the Hostess Testing Grounds, i hear that Bacon may be the next flavor.

a sin, Im sure...but about once five yrs or so, I like a FROZEN twinkie!

The worst experience i had with a twinkie was this YEAR!
On talk like a pirate day, a bunch of us local burners invaded the pirate ship restaurant...I was drunk...a fellow burner stuffed something in my mouth...claiming it was fried ice cream...nope it was a deep fried twinkie.....covered in chocolate sauce...UHG!

I think that was wrong enough to be illegalized!
Names pinemom, but my friends call me "Piney".

I've had one of those!!!!! I was thinking about it reading Simon's post and then saw that you had one too. There's a 50's style diner in South Bay that has them on the menu.

And you are right. They should be illegalized!

I had the opportunity to have a deep fried twinkie once. I went with the deep fried snickers bar instead.

A good choice, I think.

Twinkies definitely qualify as a "food-like substance."

The Twinkie defense is a derogatory term for a criminal defendant's claim that some unusual factor (such as allergies, coffee, nicotine, or sugar) diminished the defendant's responsibility for the alleged crime. The term arose from Herb Caen's description of the trial of Dan White, who was convicted in the fatal shootings of San Francisco mayor George Moscone and city supervisor Harvey Milk. During the trial, psychiatrist Martin Blinder testified that White had suffered from depression, causing diminished capacity; as an example of this, he mentioned that White, formerly a health food advocate, had begun eating Twinkies. Caen misrepresented Blinder's statement as alleging that White's depression had been caused by eating Twinkies.

Whats wrong with Deep Fried Twinkies? I thought they were as good as (I know I'm gonna murder the spelling of this pastry, but) Binyays. The pastry you can get in New Orleans. A sprinkle of powdered sugar and a dribble of Smuckers Boysenberry syrup on a Deep Fried Twinky, Oooohh, how can someone not like that? For those that don't like Deep Fried Twinkies, stay away from Deep Fried OREO's. You won't like those either.
