A SEARCH party for the children of Lennox Lewis was dispatched last night after disturbing pictures of former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson surfaced on the newswires.
Tyson once famously promised, after a fight, to eat Lewis's children.
Nobody ever thought he would make good on it.
However, those fears now appear realised after Iron Mike was caught presenting at the sixth annual Video Game Awards in Culver City, California, at the weekend.
He walked on to the stage wearing a silk shirt, slacks, and a belly that simply refused to quit.
Some - bizarrely - thought he was carrying with him a plate of pancakes before realising it was simply his chin.
Or chins.
His appearance shocked many fight fans who remembered, often fondly, the hard, chiselled body of the self-professed Baddest Man On The Planet.
It was in this heyday that Tyson launched one of boxing's most astonishing careers, cleaning the ranks on a a steady diet of devastating punches and bad intentions.
His career burned as quickly as it did brightly, though - and effectively reached its end when he dined on Evander Holyfield's ear in 1997.
Never have the dangers of a diet high in gristle and sinew been more plain to see.
From head to toe, Tyson looks like the thumb of a boxing glove.
A perfect oval.
The awards ceremony was a small step in Tyson's road to recovery, which will never be fully reached.
In 2003, Tyson filed for bankruptcy despite him having earned more than $US300 million during his career.
Since retiring in 2005, he has spoken of becoming a missionary to escape his reputation in America but recently opened a fund account that required a $50 monthly direct debit.
He declined the direct debit, noting that he could not guarantee the money would be there each month.
"I'm not really liquid these days," he said.
Triumphantly, Tyson's motto is far more noble these days: Will work for food.
