Space on couch and floor for Inauguration

Post by lovaphile » Tue Jan 06, 2009 5:26 pm

Hi! So the inauguration is coming up, and I figure some burners who want to go can't afford the $$$$ for places to stay then, so I'm offering up my DC living room and BR floor (5-8 dpending on cuddly quotient) and couch (1-2 depending on coziness quotient) for Burners. BYO whatever you need. I only have 1 Bathroom, so it may get tight, but hey, it's free! Send me a PM for more information.
Burn Bright Star Light.
I'm getting prematuraly giddy about 2009.

That's nice of you. Wish I could take you up on it; but I'm sure someone will be able to.

that is a nice offer.......

I"ll be watching from home.

even as cynical as I am towards politicians, it's amazing to see, the peaceful transfer of power......
no where, ever, has there been so much power transferred so peacefully.

bitch and complain, laugh and applaud, you still gotta be in awe that one man can take power handed him by another, without a war.......

That the losers of an election, whine though they may, still step aside and allow, if not encourage, this change of leadership.

it's always a great moment, for that if nothing else........

All, of course, IMHO......

Lovaphile,

You might want to check out couchsurfing.com. It's a social networking site for people who want to host couchsurfers and/or surf other people's couches themselves.

I've been a member for about 2 & 1/2 years now and have hosted people approximately 20 times. I've surfed others couches a few times too. I've never had a bad experience.

However, before I allow anyone to stay in my house, they MUST HAVE one or more of the following:
(1) Their identity has been verified by couchsurfing.com
(2) They have been "vouched for" (this started with the original founders of couchsurfing, who would vouch for their other friends, and so on. Once you've been vouched for three times, you can vouch for others.)
(3) They have positive references left by other couchsurfing.com members

On average, I have someone request to surf my couch about once every couple of months or so. Just last night, I hosted two young women who were traveling on their way up from Georgia to Virginia. Last week, I had a grand party- and bar-hopping NYE adventure with a young couple who were couchsurfering with me; they were also from Virginia.

So, check it out. It's a great way to meet cool & interesting people.
...but it seemed like such a good idea at the time...

Thanks for the couchsurfing.com suggestion... I'm putting it up there now.

Yay for democracy!

Just how thuroghly am I going to get beaten if I suggest lovaphile change her name to lovaphileamorelieb? Wouldn't want to be any less redundent than we have to be, would we?

Love cannot be redundant, every love and every moment in love is different, it is never the same, so it can't be repeated. Mr. Lennon digs.

At what point does "too MuchLove" become stalking or creepy?

I had to read Fishy's post like three or four times before I got it. I was like "WTF is she talking about?" I had read lovaphile's name as lova [pause] phile, as in "lova" afficianado, whatever that might be.

Lovaphile, I hope couchsurfing.com works out for you. Like I said, I've met lots of cool, interesting people and have never had a bad experience.
