so that we don't have complete thread drift, I can assure you that you cannot purchase crack on the street in Silver Springs, Nv.

I didn't have time to do much fossil hunting while we lived there, although I did swim in Lake Lahonten, which we found out afterwards you really don't want to swim in it.

wow, after looking at the sat maps, i never realized that silver springs NV has its own airport, landing strip #23...

i might have to check it out this year...

and yes Ygmir, i will admit it, i have a not so secret love for Northern Nevada which i cannot really explain.

i just do.

Part of the fun in open spaces is to see how many miles you can drive without hitting pavement.

Unlike other areas of Northern Nevada, the Black Rock High Rock area has been well written about.

Back to the thread, I forgot, if you are looking for hard drugs in that area, the Wadsworth indian reservation can cook it up for ya, I am sure. Go to the bar just outside the entrance of the reservation (on that road that circles back to the freeway from Fernley to the tobacoo store corner of 447 and 427)

(remember I lived in Silver Springs for a year)

if ya go for a drive in the desert it's not a bad idea to have a two way radio (CB) whip. 500watt linear (just kiddin FCC) funnies.

31 years ago we was drivin' at night looking for god near either winnamuca or Battle Mountain and got to the top of hill over the town. speaking on radio to a guy down in the town who tellls me there is no way I am at the top of the mountain. I blinked my headlights and he said what the fuck!

Nothing like being in a remote hot springs with it snowing around you.

It looks like they have done some work on the "airport" since '98!.

If you go south from the airport to the corner of Adriann Ave and Shofner Way, we lived in the (double wide moble but a BIG one) in the 10 oclock position. My sons would walk from there to the school which is to the northwest up on Hwy 50. Lots of coyotes, and sage brush, and more coyotes and more sagebrush. That lot area outlined around the houses is 6 acres. Our daughters went to Fernley high school. why am I telling you all this?? wanna find some gold?? fly south on 95 to the first creek, river crossing. Pan there after a spring storm.

I also had an office at the Casino up on Hwy 50 at hwy 95 junction. Not the casino on hwy 95, but the one on 50 west of 95. Between those two casino's are a Moble home sales lot and those are model homes (right on the corner is the moble home lot). The Casino were I rented was named Pipers and has been there for at least 80 years. Someone posted a pic of a casino called the Nugget in Silver Springs and when we lived there that was a closed grocery store that had an event one day where my youngest daughter was entertaining kids in a complete clown outfit. ('member she goes to Fernley High)

Ok, I know I was babbling, but wide open spaces.. you can see forever in Nevada

I met a few Native Americans in the Lovelock Pokey...The Hooked me up when i got out with clothes and stuff...There's a Large Family, with the Last Name Happy, (i swear) and they are great...
