Anonymous Camp? :)

Post by roots_revolution » Mon Nov 17, 2008 7:46 pm

Any "clean" burners out there interested in having an "anonymous camp" for AA and NA people and anyone else who would like a place to chill away from mind altering substances? *My mind's already too altered *hehe*! :) I've heard there were camps like this in the past. Hope there's interest :). I've got 16 months CLEAN AND SERENE, and I want to experience the beauty and inspiration of burning man, CLEAN! :) That is the best way for me. If you are in the same "camp" :) post your thoughts, inspirations, ideas about the camp!

Camp Stella is a clean and sober camp with Avalon Village. They have meetings and it is the only place you can get a BM Chip! (That I know of.)

There are a number of camps where sobriety is the focus and there are a whole lot of folks out on the playa who are sober. We're not a sober camp, but if you're looking for a respite during the day, we serve lots of ice tea and lemonade! We're usually really close to Hokey Pokey where Marv and his friends have daily meetings, too.
A plan is what you vary from.

Destiny Lounge 3D will be at Bradbury and 3:15 this year as a part of the 404: Village Not Found group of camps! Come see us!

Not really an addict per se but sympathetic to the problems some folks have. I AM leaning towards going straight edge at some point likely in the near future.

HP-willing, my current very realistic plans of attending this year will be a reality. The Green Man was my first and only burn. I got clean with the burning of the temple that year. I must return to experience BM again and create new clean memories.
I will stay at Anonymous Camp this year!

yeah....thats nice....

have fun with that.

prostyletize and i'll probably puke all over you though.

the issue i have with AA isnt the clean and sober it's the Clean and Sober with GOD that pisses me right the hell off...

Jesus was a fucking booze-hound and a Glue Huffer.....thank god.

but with that said, i hope you find sobriety out there on the playa, far be it from me to tell others how to burn shit.

i for one like to do it shit-faced, but i can tolerate tee-totalers as long as they keep their mouths shut about it.

My husband partakes in zero.
He spent the last two burningmans sober.
He visited Anonymous Camp, but does not do AA.
Not into the religious aspects, not to mention the one's ordered there by a judge who are hungover, reeking of last nights party, smoking crack at intermission.
And tithing??

thats much burnier, thank you.

dont take my rantings the wrong way, i was simply pointing out the Missionary like zeal that some AA'ers have, and it's basis in Jesus Cock-sucking.

i dont suck cock for Jesus, or suck Jesus's cock.

so enjoy your Sober Burn, i have no issue with it at all, and if you like sucking the messiah's manhood instead of a Chilly PBR, well that's your choice.

it is, after all, a free country.

I understand how someone can have a distaste for the bible-thumpers, but I insist that is not the norm for the 12 step recovery program I participate in. I actually recoil at the thought of Jesus and Christianity being the reason for my recovery. There is a difference between religion and spirituality. The principles of the recovery program I know do not demand an allegiance to Christianity, rather it allows one to decide for themselves what their "higher power" is. To some it is Jesus and the rest of the Holy Trinity. To others it is a doorknob. To others still its whatever is "out there" that is acting as a benefactor in their life. Many in recovery struggle with the concept entirely.
If you do not believe my way of life is something you want I am not going to waste my energy trying to convince you otherwise. It just doesn't work that way and I think your replies to this thread prove that out. (attraction not promotion) Anyone that swings a bible (or anything else for that matter) in your face isn't working their OWN program and is likely dealing with issues that have nothing to do with you.
Don't take it personal. I don't.

We all go there to do whatever the fuck we want to. And that truly is the beauty of it, right? So smoke crack while you get a hand job at Jiffy Lube by naked middle-aged man wearing angel wings and a gas mask if you wish because you just can't do that anywhere else!

i've been stoned every day of my life since age 12, except for those 58 days in the involuntary work spa.

those 58 days sucked.

as soon as i got out, i ran to the safeway, grabbed cigs and a bottle of ten-high, went out to the parking lot, and almost passed out, i smoked my first marb so quick.

after the Nausea wore off, i of course, lit another, and sat down and got loopy .

it is the chemicals that hold me and my brain together, and like Lemmy, from Motorhead, i would not like to be on the receiving end of my blood in a transfusion, because it would kill you.

Last year, I heard was not great. Instead of being there, I was drunk as a skunk on Labor Day.

One day, my boss caught me with booze on my breath. Than I knew I was finished and I surrended to the powers that might be.

I quit. And I never want go back. Back to the horrors of addiction. The isolation of my own room. No friends. No one. Just me and the bottle.

For me to participate, I must be clean. Drinking is bondage to me. Freedom is sobrierty.
