Banned Treatment

Post by gyre » Sat Jan 24, 2009 5:49 pm

I'm watching Short Attention Span Theatre, a docko on guantanamo at the moment, and the list of special techniques reminded me of burning man in a few cases.

stress positioning--------My ride out, getting in and out of tents
exploiting phobias
forced nudity
hooding
isolation
sense deprivation
sleep deprivation
exposure to hot and cold
bouts of loud music

We use some of these at the greeter's gate, of course.

Maybe if the rename Guantanamo Bay Prison, Black Rock City South, the government might keep it open. It would be nice if they could send all the Nevada LEOs there to bother the prisoners and lurk in the dark trying to catch them infracting a law.

The camp could be used for corporate retreats to enhance team unity.

We already have those groups at burning man.

They don't all apply unless you go to the temple.
That's why I color coded some.
Some people do feel isolated and sense deprived of normal things out there though.

I bet if you ask, someone can cover the whole list for you.

I've been referring to the Blue Rooms as Sensory Deprivation Chambers for years.
“We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.”

You're pretty funny.
But I don't actually sit in front of the computer.
It's more like it's near where I watch films and do other things.
I can ignore it or reach for the keyboard when I want.
The big monitor is sitting on a burning man cooler, because it's the only thing that isn't crushed like a bug when I set it down on it. (Thank you Tripley's)
And the computer is over against the wall.
The keyboard is on a long cord, so it's wherever I want it.
I can go wireless if I want, but it's 20 degrees outside now.

Like I said, I was watching something and was inspired to say something.

Woke up later, and I've been watching Blood On My Hands, part of the danish Pusher Trilogy and logged on when I got bored.
I have to find the other two films now, since that one didn't really end at all.
