Warning; thread drift in progress. Warning; thread drift in progress.
This interweb is amazing. Here is the translation from a web site:
Blind I walk
Do not lead me home
Let the night lead me
Eternally forward
More verbatim, it is:
Blind I walk
Save me not
Let the night lead me
Always
I have an issue with the comma in the original. By normal grammar, it reverses the meaning.
But it is modern Norwegian. That said, keep in mind that there are two official versions of the Norwegian language -- and countless dialects. Norway was long ruled by Denmark, and the old Norwegian language was heavily influenced by Danish. This is the most commonly spoken version today. The other version is an effort to restore the language towards its old self.
[For the benefit of other burners who read this, we should probably explain that Karine is of Norwegian heritage, and is learning the language.]

Yes, LeChat Noir, how does your garden grow?
Names pinemom, but my friends call me "Piney".
That's right, Pinemom. This year, I'm doing a little thing I've called "Learn Norwegian at The Booby Bar".pinemom wrote:Yeah, you tell em Barb wire...Norwiegen classes will be held in the BOOBY bar This year!Elliot wrote::D

Had a lot of fun with that in 2008 at the Herring Bar.
So a very warm welcome to everyone who wants to learn some Norwegian! This year you will also be able to taste a Norwegian drink at The Booby Bar.

Now I'm ready to project.. It will be the 'UNjon Dear Tractor'("PUNKED") for 09..
Just come home from a one week post operatioN visit..
From Bm 2000 when I could hardly see to 20 over 25 in both eyes.
The worst one was 40 over 400, They got it to 30 over 300.. Then surgery two weeks ago and 20 over 25 today. The tec took the lens out of my glasses so I can see distances. But will have to wait a month or more for new lens to read..
Will have to stay with rust removal and such on the tractor until then.. The thing is a great ball of old grease.. But I love it already. Throw in a new battery, it spit up a huge fur ball and started running.

Think about it. When do you need to speak Norwegian if not at a bar?gyre wrote:What if I can only speak norwegian when I'm drinking?
