hiya from CenCal

Post by logmeinandout » Mon Feb 16, 2009 12:03 pm

First timer from central California.

Been stalking Burning Man online for about 2 years.

Totally stoked to see the art and the fire dancing shenanigans.

Looking for an affordable canvas tent.

And by affordable, I mean under $1500.00.

Tell me somethin good.

Welcome and good luck with your search. A little more info might help. Size, type, discription..etc (canvas pup tent??)

This has been posted in the past, I am not sure if they are even still in business, but I thought the "Party" ten would be really fun.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

There's a good thread (or two) somewhere here on tents.

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

There's Springbar.
For $1500, you start getting into good dacron tents and really good used nylon and dacron tents.
And there are triple wall desert tents if you can get one shipped to you.
Wool, cotton and silk come into play there.

I have always tent camped, even bought a new North Face I used at the last burn with great success. And have enjoyed taking part in the spirited debates  between us tenters, and the rv'ers. And while tents, or more likely those that are sleeping in them would make for great speed bumps, I have often taken them to places an rv could never get to. But......this past weekend, I, uh, ummm, I uh...Oh say it for dog's sake, get it out! I, ummm, went over to the dark side and bought an RV. I feel so dirty  Guess I'll have to try out the shower in it.
Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

Check out civil war reenactor sutler sites for good canvas A-frame tents, tent flys and sidewall tents. No screening, 12- 14 oz. sunforger canvas. usually no floor but a cheap poly tarp under a carpet works fine.
