I stoped in there on the way down, it was so nice to get that last real shower after driving about 3/4 of the way. It's a nice little spotwedeliver wrote:motskyroonmatick wrote:. One of these years I swear I'm going to stop in at the Eagles Nest RV Park on the way down.

Then your only averaging 42 MPH - I do 75 or better on I-5 for over 450 miles. Then hit the hills after that. I canmake it to Gerlach in one of our Kenworths pulling 50 tons of gear in 15 hours.Barbie wrote:The quickest I've made the Seattle to BRC drive is 16 hours- And I don't stop to eat...
682 miles in 12 hours is an average of only 55 or so. You must be losing time somewhere.

getting there is easy. i plan to take my time, sightsee a bit (assuming that there actually is anything to see in the oklahomagyre wrote:Pace yourself.
You may need energy when you get there.
If you can arrive early and camp out or rest up in a hotel, it helps.
Pyramid Lake is at the same altitude so you start acclimating.
however, my univeristy classes start on the tuesday, and its probably a 34 hour drive to try and miss as little as possible. (missing the temple burn is out of the question).
If you happen to be around oshawa that week, expect to see a hyper, dust-caked burner appear at an inopertune time of day, check the mail, take a shower, then sleep for 12 hours.

Okay then I Wasssss telling stories a little bit - BUT heres the REAl one...
It was 2006 Danger CHicken and me had early, early passes to get into BRC. (not just a couple days early BUT A whole WEEK early) and it was in the middle of the night when we got to Weed CA-
You can go around one way or the other, WE took left road on map and the road after that was GONE I mean they Were TOTALLY redoing it. After being on the ROAd forever we came up to an area with a Group of traffic waiting for a lead car and then we;
drove 15-20 mph on DIRT road with 4-6 foot burms on either side of us and dust swirling around like on a good day in BRC- It was realllllyy skkkecchhyyy and went on FOREVER we would Stop at certain places and let other groups GO the OTHEr direction.
We left Queen Anne Hill at about 1:00 pm and arrived at a friends house in RENO at 4:00am. We were supposed to head to Playa that mor. instead we slept and headed out next mor.
IT was a Great Week sooooooooo Quite !!!!!!!! Everyone works their BUTTS Off- I may, try to figure out how to find time to, volunteer again this YEAR.
Gettin' to BRC and Back to real life IS part of the Adventure... Driving from Seattle is just part of IT. On the way home that year a tire almost killed me- I saw it come at me slow motion- even though it skipped
over the medium from the other direction and was traveling at probaly 60mph bouncing
it was one of those situations where your thinking really quickly-
Okay I could die here this tire is coming at me- the truck IS PAcked full of
junk IF I serve to get of this tires way I could tip this truck, if I speed up it still may hit me or I might hit It, IF I serve left I may hit the car- 2 car links in back of me, FUCK WE ARE ALL GOnna EAT IT- FUCK......
the guy to the left of me slowed way down- I prayed and slowed down and severed a little left the TIRE barely missed me I mean maybe by 3 feet- this all happen in flash BUT it was SLOW Motion for ME!!
The guy and his family from the other car came up beside me and ALL GAVE me the THUMBS UP!!
You should see how THEY look at me - when I show up in my fairy wings, pink cowboy hat, and googles, to get on the plane with white powder all over every thing !!!!
Yea- I'm surprised EVERY Year when I make It to BRC-
BUT I DO
