That might be true, but I'll bet the reason the Nazis that opened up the accounts was so they could hide the treasure taken from the Jews.

And the French, and the Dutch and the Danish and from trade unionists and anybody else so foolish as to leave valuables in their grasp. Yes, what happened to European Jews was vile and astonishing. But that doesn't mean others didn't suffer. The forties was a miserable time to be in Continental Europe, any way you slice it.

Yes, I know. And i"m not even going to point out that most americans are familier with that flower because of a song sung in a movie set in Austria. Much less ask what Austria was doing with a navy in the 30s. I was just teasin' you. And poking myself about Austria as well.

speaking of movie geography, i always love how they hike over those mountains from salzburg to switzerland ... i think those mountains would actually have lead them to italy ... or maybe berschtesgaden...

Berchtesgaden is more like it. Really Salzburg is practically within spitten' distance of Munchen.
