I guess that pyramids are getting more and more popular....with this year's theme I could see some interesting concepts involving them. Like domes, they've got that good triangle mojo goin' for them, so they're nice and stable, but they suck for headroom unless you're building to scale.....

There was a Pyramid Scheme camp last year as part of Solo Collective. I believe they are planning a return for 2004 in some form.

Yeah, pyramids. It's the Vault of Heaven, and it's driving me Nuts.

Nut was the first thing I thought of when I heard what the theme was going to be. I've toyed with thoughts of coming up with a futureized version of Nut as an arch portal. A glowing disk making its way from her mouth to her vagina from sun set to sun rise.

I really doubt I will ever get to it so if any body else wants to feel free.

It seemed so perfect for Burning man because of the sexual tension between her as the heavens and Geb the god of the earth.

......what type of Egyptian snacks would one serve from a Food Pyramid?

Instead of a pyramid, why not a "Sphynx To High Heaven?"

We built a pyramid in 2000. It was 24 feet high, 24x24' square, had three levels, two interior plus an observation deck at the top. Okay, pretty much the interior was a big atrium like the Luxor pyramid with wide balcony/catwalk along the sides. We accessed it by a ladder in the northeast corner and the other three corners had nap stations (okay, they were beds ;)). The front facing the Esplanade had a door/balcony and a staircase accessed the west door.

Pyramids are huge, and incredibly stable. We fit the whole camp of 75 people inside our pyramid comfortably when the Friday night storm hit and it was as solid as a house (probably because it was framed, like a house). It was no small feat to construct: we have a master carpenter/woodsmith in our camp and it took him 5,000 pounds of wood and a week to build it, two days to come down.

I've also seen pictures and videotape of a guy whose camp/installation was a pyramid frame within which hung a wooden pyramid and he slept in that. I saw that and I thought, "O, what a brilliant person you are, you are!" :)

...wish I'd seen either of those- they must have been COOL. If I keep going to BRC every year, it's just a matter of time before I'm gonna have to buy a few dozen acres of land and just BUILD playa-inspired STUFF.

There's Atlantis. It might take awhile to load because there's a lot of photos, but the Pyramid's in many of them. It was central to camp life, it goes without saying...pyramids are powerful statements :)

Euphoria Pyramid

Post by Jordan 10-E » Wed Apr 07, 2004 11:13 am

We are building a type of pyramid for camp Euphoria this year. However, some of the details are a secret right now so I can't say much more.
