There is a local group of burners in you are that you can get together with and hopefully hook up and make friends with. (is that a real sentence?) The regional groups are a great start for eager virgins.
Find them here: http://regionals.burningman.com/ca_bc_van.html
Good luck, welcome to the family and welcome home!

hey fellow vancouverites, I've been to the playa a couple times, and have a good connection with the local "scene" if you want to find other people who have attended the burn, or any regional events happening in the vancouver area check this site out : http://burningvan.org/ there is also a few e-mail lists that alot of stuff gets put out to, links can be found at the burningvan site,Coming up real soon there is a regional event happening in about a month, and it's a great way to meet others who are playa bound check it out : http://www.recompression.com/ get your tickets early, cause it will sell out.
some more info for burner types in the van area can be found here: http://burnbc.org/ and here: http://www.burnvic.ca/
good luck on your journey, it's a long drive from vancouver, but it's worth it. A great place to stop on the way home is the summer lake hot springs, it's the best part of the burn if you ask me...

what is the current canadian gift exchange rate anyway?
is'nt it they (the canadians) have to gift one and a half times the normal gifting amount?
or is it on par, or close?
i dont want to have to do math on the playa, so can we work this out beforehand?
PS....the toronto blue jays suck, so no burning blue jay patches, or modified Phoenix that looks like a blue jay stickers, and you cant turn the word Labatt's into Labia's with some artful cut and paste, either...
allright, the last one is ok...
i'll take two,
thanks...
THERE you SEE! the polite bullshit is rubbing off like cooties...god damn it!
fuck!
stupid canadians with they're stupid niceness, and stupid tim hortons, which is actually quite tasty, god damn them.

Frida Be You & Me
Vancouver isn't so much a city as a whim.
Or you might call it a vicinity.
And did the "Burning Van" chant in Malcolm come from this group?
And if 600,000 people live in the "Vancouver area", how many people is that in metric?
And can you prove Canadia is really a country?
Forgetting to turn your lights off during the day and driving on the wrong side of the road doesn't prove anything.
