Transit System? YES OR NO
What about a little trolley spanning across the event? that would be cool. just to get to one end faster, or enjoy the view...if they expand the width of the city or the winter puts a bad crust on the playa, it would help for those of us less mobile, or injured on the playa....hmm? could be cool...but hopefully they cap the population and we dont have to grow in width...
I'll just be a first time returner to BM, but I didn't mind the size. I know it's already been reduced, but I watched a hawt chickie eat the playa trying to avoid people early, or late, in the morning, trying to avoid walkers and other bikers. They left on Thurs., I think. Kewl people...leaving may have been due to conditions, or personal reasons. Dunno.
Public transit does include bikes, though, imo. Public Transit routes are always planned out in an expedient manner, make the most of the travel, and put the person out just enough to travel "far enough" to make it worth it.
Big thing I had a deal with was that some of the smaller mv's, while empty, wouldn't take a side trip. I get it, they have their own agenda, but when if I could catch a ride on the back of someone else's bike...peddle powered, all the way across the playa? Just a question. There's a bit of a cliqueish, which I thinks comes with the size of the place, and the amount of money someone has spent on their mv...the "show off" factor vs. the funness.
Also has to do with their experience at the event, I think. Heads seem to grow with costumes...acceptance, seems to shrink with experience. Just my take.
More bikes, make the big mv's tour the "major's", maybe. Yeah, I know, regulation, but eh, it's a priviledge to drive around out there. I felt priviledged just to walk into the middle of it and watch all the lights and fire.

Mutant Vehicle builders and operators have enough to deal with. Forcing them to be part of some transportation plan will only deter them from bringing these vehicles to the playa. I intentionally built my mutant vehicle with a large carrying capacity but as soon as someone forces me to be part of a transportation plan I will leave it at home. I enjoy giving rides but I also get really frustrated by the people who insist that I should take them to their destination as soon as they get on board. I have already planned a route and will be sticking to it unless there is an emergency.
Mutant Vehicle rides are a gift not a right.
Don't look a gift horse(or Da Mule) in the mouth.
