Yep, I'm hooked
Yep, I'm hooked
So I went to my first burn last year in 2008. It was precipitated by a co-worker walking in to work after returning from the 2007 burn with a shaved head and a long beaded string braided into his beard. I was immediately intrigued and we got to talking about Burning Man.
Well, fast forward a year and a half now, having been to my first burn and already anticipating my second this year, I am officially addicted. I think there needs to be a regional BA (Burners Anonymous) group to help ease the transition back into the default world.
I had the most amazing time of my life. A truly wonderful experience in all aspects. I can't even think of going on any different "vacation" during the time of Burning Man since all I'll be doing is thinking of being there. So, I'm expecting to be a lifelong burner now.
So here I am, trying to get my Burning Man fix here on ePlaya.

my best advice is to find your suitcase or bag or whatever from last year, scoop up some playa, because you know there's some left, and snort it.
dont smoke it.
eating it's not bad, but for the whole sense/trigger efficacy you want a couple of rails of fine dusty dust up your honker.
everything will smell like home for the rest of the day.

Here ye Here ye! Anxiously awaiting my sophomore burn as well
lilrra, there is something like burners anon. around that ur talking about, it's called decomp. Went to my first one as well after the 08 burn. eplaya is a great place to keep you geeked and wet ur appetite. And I try and do things with local burners in my area as well from time to time. Currently I'm involved in the organizational team for a new regional burn in the midwest called Lakes of Fire.
It's a great drug, isn't it

I actually went to the LA Decom. It was super fun. Doing things with local burners would be cool if there's any in my area. However, I've found something to keep me occupied until the burn. I'm going to be building a double geo-dome, as well as a small solar power setup to power everything.Sail Man wrote:Here ye Here ye! Anxiously awaiting my sophomore burn as well :D

Here's a little 3D model I made of it to see how it will all fit together, and it looks like it'll turn out pretty good! And yes, this is the best drug I've ever had ;)

We use a small solar setup to run the LED string lights in our dome. One 15 watt panel and a pre-charged Deep Cycle battery keep us in lights all week. Nothing blindingly bright, but more than enough to work with. Thinking of getting another panel to give a little bit more flexibility.
I really like the double-dome idea!

The New and Improved Black Cat... now with 25% more blather
For one or two people, they rawk sawks...but not in an environment where people think they have to live in a tent.
Actually, the people in the tents probably had better provisions, as far as food goes, than us, sure they had less water, though.
I liked my tent, till it got cold.
The old hatred, is just that..."old"...people should should try to grow a bit....maybe I'm too wishfull?

Yup, this is my second burn as well. Now that I have last year under my belt, I have a long list of what I will do better this year. First improvement is my newly acquired Springbar tent. I tested it in Death Valley a week ago and it worked perfectly.
The scary part, my living room is full of dusty bins and other BM equipment. I didn't even put anything away. Why bother when I will need it soon enough.
