fuck! I posted my Mini Cooper disaster to the wrong thread!
Yes it was mine. Yes it was new. Yes it was parked. Yes the snow plow won, and no, the city won't take responsibility. He apparently didn't see it....or perhaps he didn't even know he hit it. That is the official response. WTF ?
Hit and run by a snow plow. Apparently it is common in these parts.... who knew?
I'm not quite as pissed off as I sound...nobody was hurt, and that's really far more important than the state of my drive. Serves me right for even having an attachment to a thing.

It was the scar tissue and the "found normal" cysts causing the puckering!!!
and the pain in the armpit is apparently a pulled muscle? Hmm imagine that...me being physical...and hurting myself.

Great news! I got an email from the University yesterday, my neighbor found my bookbag! Apparently, the stupid fucking thieves tossed my bookbag into my neighbor's shrubs, about 4-5 houses down the street from my house, after they found that there was nothing really valuable in it. I got back all my books, notes, and flashdrives. The only thing they took was my $35 HP calculator, which they were probably lucky to get $5 for.RingO'Fire on February 18th wrote:Oh, I have another "Fuck!" too! One good thing did come out of it though. Later that same day, I had to go work on a HAZMAT spill cleanup. There was this really pretty stray dog running around. My coworkers had found it skulking around and had started feeding it.
Several of the guys I work with talked about taking him home, but couldn't for various reasons - small apartment, too many other dogs, unfenced yard, etc. I studied this dog all day long, thinking, "Alright dog, you're smart enough to have survived down here on your own for a while, and you sure are pretty, but are you smart enough to be MY dog?" I eventually decided that, yes, he was smart enough. So, I began the bonding process with him, by petting & feeding him out of my hand.
Wednesday night, I brought him home. He let me pick him up and put him in the truck. He crashed out right away and snuggled up to me and put his head on my thigh while I drove home (about an hour's drive).
I've already taken him to the vet to get him vaccinated and de-wormed (he's got 3 different kinds, but not heart worms). He's a 52-lb, full-blooded "red" Siberian Husky [in the vet's opinion, and he's the expert]. The vet said he's about 5-7 lb underweight. I decided to name him "Buddy", since that's what I already call all male critters anyway.
This dog is really pretty, big, smart, and hyper as a motherfucker. He's driving my 13-year old female Chow apeshit. Oh well, they're dogs, they'll figure it out.
I have to say, honestly, if I hadn't been broken into early Wednesday morning, I might not have brought this awesome dog home later that night. So, even though it sucks that some fucking lowlife broke my window and stole my shit, I now have an awesome fucking dog as a result.
One $80 book, that I've already replaced, was about 1/2 wet and starting to mildew a little. I'll probably keep the "wet" book after it dries out, of course and sell the new, replacement one on ebay. My flash drives work just fine. I now have 2 sets of books and 2 NorthFace book/messenger bags. In my mind, I felt that I had to get a replacement bag that was even nicer that the one that was stolen, just so "they" didn't "win"; now I've got two nice book/messenger bags.
Heck though, I'm just glad to have gotten any of my stuff back. I had totally written all of it off. I got it back exactly one month to the day after it had been stolen.
I took my neighbor a bottle of wine and gave her a big ol' hug for finding my shit and taking the effort to find out who it belonged to, since we knew each other by sight, but not by name. Fuck yeah!
Oh yeah, the new dog is doing great too. I got his nuts cut off last week (poor fella - but it had to be done). So far, my "free" dog has cost me about $700, but he really is smart, pretty and has a great disposition.
Wow, some times, things really do work out for the best! Fuckin' A!
...but it seemed like such a good idea at the time...
