It's worth checking with Reflectix.
The stuff I'm thinking of might damage the material.
I'm not sure which one we used, but I think it was designated by numbers.
One of the others might be better anyway.

Personal shade for tent, what works? (to buy, not build)
OK, I know i've tried to bring this up before but I didn't have enough information to warrent a decent enough answer.
Sorry if i'm repeating myself a bit but this may help explain my thoughts... has anyone ever used Scaffold netting as their shade material...

It's notably cheaper than Shade Cloth, which is the direction we were orginally going in, and we were thinking of maybe even doubling up on this stuff, or using shade cloth on the sensative areas (we're talking a 6th of the price).
FANKS
(note: we will be using this on a prefrabracated wood structure over our tent area, and also potentially in a communcal area at the center of our camp)

I used a lg. kelty tripod shelter last year. Very flexible and on the whole playa friendly. I put one leg windward and staked it out. During the dust storms, the rope angle lowered to the ground, as the pole actually bent on an inward arc. When the wind died, it straightened up fine. The pole needed minimal repair at the joint. This year I will use a steel fence post to tie a more horizontal and shorter rope to the guy out point, and stake and tie out the fence post. This might reduce the bend. With the tripod set at lowest profile, it was a drag to constantly bend down to get inside. Once inside, lots of headroom, and a sense of privacy. It didn't exactly welcome hellos from passersby, and that was something I missed in a lounging space. personal taste whether you like that or not. It is a light color, so this shade is not super shady. I had my tent on sunrise side, and car on sunset side to help with side shading. The kelty is very compact when packed up.
Tomorrow I will be receiving via ups a new shade tent/teepee sight unseen except for a photo. It might or might not be a great lounge space. Not a huge investment, and hoping that I can adjust/adapt/modify for any shortcomings. Use teepee as lounge space and put the kelty tripod over my tent or bring it as back up in case of teepee failure.

How did everyone else's projects go? ...is this the thread where samples were being ordered & partied with? That reflective top only..? I left this thing at the airport on the way back. Too big a bundle. I love how the cop wasn’t even surprised. If I feel the urge, I'll try a reflectix/reflective top of tent only & concentrate on ventilation. Then again I barely spent time in that tent. I didn’t take a thermometer, all I know’s the first morning, Monday onto Tuesday, I was nice & cool in there until bout 5pm & I was told by two people that they were too hot to sleep in the am hours. After that it wasn’t too hot & I was always colder coming out of the tent. It was toxic though! Going back in after just getting out, it was so bad I couldn’t stay long enough to find anything. Thanks to Mots for the solar fan!

tripod shelter on sale $45.00. a dome tent would fit under this and keep cool I think. I spent over 100.00 for a kelty version on sale. this is a good price. 8 ft. head room, 12x12x12 footprint
