TAP plastics is a good place to start. you can buy woven sheets of fiber-glass, caron-fiber, etc. and every caustic resin it takes to make a form.

-- one note, one good thing about a bike is it's flow-through asset of it's own bike frame. be careful with getting too much of a 'resistance' with a solid shape on your playa crusier. -(just making quick observation)-

when it gets windy out and your waaayyy out on the playa, it'll be your little or big personal demon to deal with.

-- on the flip side, if you know how to sail..........

I need some suggestions for a good way to attach a parasol to a bike. I am not especailly handy with tools, so simple, but sturdy would be the most helpful...

Well, haven't done it yet but am going to zip-tie/hose clamp some 1" PVC pipe as uprights on my trike to hold a shade canopy, maybe glue some bow pieces together from 90 degree elbows and straight pieces across the top. All that's needed is the pipe, some PVC cement and corner fittings, and a hacksaw for cutting lengths. Strong and light.

I've become a big fan of rubber binding straps.. that's what http://www.mcmaster.com calls them, anyway. Part number 30185T13 for example.

It's basically a ball bungee but with a thick rubber band instead of a piece of bungee cord. Holds 1/2" PVC to something as strong as a cable tie but it's reusable and requires no tools.

Two big loops over the top of a bike from front to back with fabric tied between them should keep the sun off a bit.
