Scale miniatures

A viewing box would not be difficult at all for my tiny minis. For the full one inch scale models ... yikes. MyLarry and I are already discussing it, but we can't do anything until I have them basically built so we can get a feel for how they will look, placement actual size, and so on.

I think we may do a scale sun Winter Solstice burn here at home, the long trek out to Seabase in Tooele for a few freezing hours just doesn't feel worth it this year. Not without a Dave23 sun icon!

It was so fucking cold here at Solstice, we hid in the basement and got drunk.

I've begun the Happy Hippie bus. So far the undercarriage and stairs are assembled, and the orange shag carpeting glued in place. washcloths make wonderful dollhouse carpeting. The front and back panels go on today. I have to decide on paint colors. Purple interior ... should clash nicely with the orange carpet. exterior... mural, of course, so I have to put a base coat down. Likely um, bus yellow.

Making progress on the Happy Hippie Bus. Interior ended up in oranges and blues. Interior murals loaded with as many cliches as I could manage.

Hmmm, I've got a grille in the kit and the back panel is already glued in place. Bunkbeds are a good thought!

I also have a kit for a vintage-look trailer. The Trippin' Trailer I should think!

Upper bunk folds up when not in use, making headroom so lower bunk can be used as couch.

That's why I mentioned it. Quite a coincidence. And you didn't even see my bus; you only saw my tricycle with the steamroller tires.

Keep up the good work -- you are building "Millicent"!

The bunks in my pix are on the left side, but of course you transfer that to the right. The sequence then along the right wall will be dinette, consisting of two bus seats and a home made table; kitchen which is just a counter with a tiny sink, a propane camping stove, and some work space, with a tiny fridge under; then the bunks; and behind that the bath room with a large shower stall and normal size toilet, and a small sink.

In my bus, the last 16 feet is cargo space, but in your model it should all fit perfectly along one wall. Your third window will be (if you choose to go this way) above the bath sink, and finally you have a lounge the full width of the bus in the very back, taking full advantage of the gorgeous rear wall.

As for the grill, mine is a real Peterbilt grill that I added onto the front for fun. It looks over-the-top, which is the whole idea. Ask your husband if he can find a scratched-up real one at work, which is how I got mine! LOL

Adding:

Bath at early stage of construction. There is now a sink and a window in the middle, and a door just like in a house. No, I donâ€™t know why there is a pair of crutches in the shower. LOL

Grill (before cleaning) with name plate and guard duck.

Aftermath of BM 2007. Itâ€™s further along now, but still not finished. Dinette on the left. Small kitchen counter behind the dinette -- where the boxes are. Then transfer bunks and bath to other wall, further back. Ignore metal bulkhead at the ceiling -- thatâ€™s just where my cargo space begins.

I should mention that Millicent is two feet taller than normal. Yes, big job. But you can fake that, since people will not likely be able to judge proportions that accurately.

Hmmm, I will have to see what I have on hand to fit in the bus. I have a hippie table and chairs, and can easily make cabinets. I'm just not at that stage quite yet.

A weird coincidence, my Aunt Millie died last week. Perhaps she is being reincarnated as a Hippie Bus. She was in poor health, when she called dad he would call it "the organ recital".

I have miniature duck decoys. Hmmmm.
