Hiya there!

Post by cincarus » Wed Mar 25, 2009 7:28 am

Hi,

Never been there before but a few told me I HAVE to go!

They signed me up to be greeter too. Well I am a gabber so I guess I'll be OK!

Later,

Cindy :D

PS Any tips would be appreciated I think some of my friends are not being honest to me.

Hey there.

You will want to read everything you can about the event until its all you know.

After that ask every question you can think of.

When you find out your friends are lying to you punch them squarely in the eye, and then forgive them.

I'm sure they didn't mean it.

Hi

Post by cincarus » Wed Mar 25, 2009 7:45 am

Thanks.

I usually ask so MANY questions I get myself into trouble! Then I paint myself into corners!

So when they asked me if I wanted to be a greeter said SURE this time without asking first.

So I thought what's a greeter? Hmmm, then did some googling and woops, back in the corner. I was asking what should I wear. And I got all these crazy suggestions that I just said I'd rather stand out naked than go like that and so they said I could!

Then I found they do that!

Now I'm conflicted! Not shy don't get me wrong. :D

Before you commit to doing anything learn about what your getting into. It is very easy to get overwhelmed by this thing. Just work on being there first.

Commit... or go with the flow

Post by cincarus » Wed Mar 25, 2009 11:26 am

Well I looked into it. I don't have a problem with it, at least greeting early. Then there would be less sun problems, maybe.

Actually, I like being naked. I guess that why I got invited?

It was soooo funny, I just got back from lunch and chatting with my friends, they thought I was bluffing. Now I'm thinking I should do it. I'm trying to coax my another girl into joining me. I don't know.

So what do you have do? Tell them you are just going to greet naked or do they assign or approve it?

I'm fine with the nudity! :D

You can greet wearing all or nothing, as you see fit. It is dusty with the constant vehicle stream, if it is daytime, it's hot, and if it is nighttime, it's cold; dress accordingly! The most important thing about greeters is information disbursement and welcoming the people home. There is an all-nude greeter shift-Wed. noon, maybe? Whenever you greet, make sure you have GOGGLES, DUST MASK, and lots of WATER...

All nude shift

Post by cincarus » Wed Mar 25, 2009 11:44 am

So the all nude greeter shift? That's wed till noon?

I can do that!

And if I want to greet naked outside of the all nude shifts that's cool too?

See, now I'm FREAKIN' hooked!

As always, Gaminwench is spot-on.

Be sure you read the Greeter's manual a couple of times in addition to the first timer's guide and the Survival guide.

The Greeter's schedule will be available for sign up in a few months. That's where you will be able to volunteer for specific shifts. Shifts last for four hours each and with a bit of coordination, you can get on the same shift as your friends. Be sure you get a bit of training - even if is from your Lead greeter before your shift.

You may certainly greet naked if you wish - bring along clothes to the Greeter's station just in case though. If the wind picks up, the dust is relentless and since you have to talk, you get big yummy mouthfuls of it.

I wonder.... Did I once read that Greeters should have at least one burn behind them so they have some clue as to what they are doing? I know I would not have been qualified to be a Greeter my first year. Sensory overload! LOL

That said, with your enthusiasm you may be ready for greeting with just a couple of days on the Playa.

As for your friends, if they are experienced burners my guess is that they are looking forward to seeing you in full sensory overload. And perhaps they don't want to leave you behind when they go to their Greeter shifts.

It will be fine no matter what!

My greeter was a newbie 1st timer last year.

She had clothes on.

she did OK, until I asked her where the RV section is and where Larry is camped.

Hi Cindy! Welcome! If you're going because your friends told you to go, then you probably don't know what they're getting you into yet! That being said, I think that if you are really going to do the greeter shift, you should sign up for a shift later in the week. That way, you can at least get a better idea of what burning man is, and give yourself some time to enjoy losing your virginity first, rather than an overwelming wam-bam-thank-you-mam! :D

Hey Norm,

They don't what they got started! I will be reading and studying and hopefully ready.

I guess I'll have to wait and see if they want me doing it anyway, being a newbie.

I was figuring, if the weather permits, just to wear maybe a hat and some nicer running type shoes. I'll need a bag for things too, that's a given.

So how many greeters are like together in one spot?

Even if my friends and I split up, if I were nude and the others at the station weren't would that cause a problem you think?

Do they tend to keep the naked people together?

I don't mind, myself.

Actually for me BEING NAKED makes me more OUTGOING and talkative (or so I've been told) :D

Yep I really like being naked. I don't know I just fill fuller of life when I'm that way? :D

I kind of really am sort of outgoing.

And to answer your other question no at the moment no, fully clothed. Very cold here today anyway!

Yes, they stage them at my camp where we insure they retain their pristine nakedness. After their stint at the Greeters stations and they get all caked with dust we run them through a body rinse and a good pat down to make sure they are ready for the next shift, and/or party. What ever comes first. :P

I need to tell you cincarus that being a naked greeter takes practice and if you don't do a great job at it you may not be allowed back in.

No, Daddy-o is not serious. A lot of ribbing goes on here. It took me a while to get used to it and for the most part it is all in fun. I to enjoy being naked and have thought about being a greeter. That may be a good idea for a camp, “The naked greeter schoolâ€
