2nd time on the playa this year and I'm getting married!!

Post by treysee718 » Tue Jan 13, 2009 10:58 pm

I've only been once in 06 and I can't wait to go back home!!
Here is my story....My boyfriend of 10+ years and I were going through some ideas of how we wanted to go about getting married, I started looking into beach houses and this and that blah blah blah it just didn't feel right. Then one afternoon a few drinks into happy hour one day going over the planning we both woke up and realized it has to be at Burning Man, I have been walking on a cloud ever since! If anyone has any experience, advice or ideas they'd like to share with me to enhance our union I'd love to hear it.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya and best wishes.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Congratulations :!:

I saw on the news this morning that NYC has a new marriage bureau. A license only costs $25.00 and you only have to wait 24 hours. A witness , a license, and a day later and you got it. New York wants that hitch business instead of Las Vegas.

You can have a ceremony everyday at BRC. I've heard several couples use Thursday before the Burn as their anniversary date. 8)

You will want to contact the Burning Man wedding coordinator. There is a link in the Survival guide. I think it is just weddings @burningman.com

I have officiated in many playa weddings and they are just the most wonderful, incredible things - they have a life of their own. Congratulations!!!! There are a few hoops to jump through in regard to the paperwork needed ahead of time to get married on the playa, but it's not difficult and you have loads of time to get it all together.

Hi there and congratulations!

If you're looking for a venue, consider the Twistine Chapel. It's pretty roomy and we'll even sweep the floor.
We got popes and everything. :D

thanks for the good feed back, I'm thinking at sunrise on Friday before the burn and am waiting to see what art will be built before I pick a spot... The 2 things that would make my day would be a photographer and an artcar to ride around in after :)

Welcome and congratulations on your up coming nuptials. I can't think of a better place to spend a honeymoon at.

i guess it's safe to assume that the ceremonies will be clothing optional.

I would like to recommend Bruno's Motel in Gerlach for your honeymoon. I hear the honeymoon suite is incredible with an amazing view, but the room service leaves something to be desired.

Not to mention that all the rooms are reserved for LEOs.

That's freakin' funny....the maid there is a past camp member of mine, she is now too crazy to go to Burning Man, believe it or not.

Even the palatial honeymoon suite? I wonder which LEOs will be "using" that room?
I'm not sure if you realize this, but not only does Bruno own pretty much the entire town of Gerlach, but he is also the official town "Wedding Planner".

Rumor Simon, strickly rumor. The Empire store is open. Plenty of smokes, potato salad, and condoms.

They might have to stop at the Safeway in Lovelock for a cake. If I remember correctly, it is right across the way from Pershing County Courthose in Lovelock. BRC is in Pershing County not Washoe County by the way. I think they can get a license there if not already ' legal '. No need to drive all the way to Reno and back...

If they were on board the Playa Cruiser, oh I'm sorry, he calls it the Land Yacht now... Anyhoo, if the lucky-but-misguided couple were aboard the Land Yacht, I'm pretty sure Captain Goddammit could marry them.

At least I think he's still single.
