Last year I saw an R/C car that had been decorated... sort of a mini art car!

Hmmm,
I suppose gas powered rc cars would work. We have electric rc cars/trax trucks. Just kicking loose on packed dirt courses can be harsh to ours. Canned air is a must! I can"t think of how I could modify the undercariage to keep dust out. What might the playa do to my babies? I like the idea of making a mini art car though. If enough people reply yay, maybe there would be enough for a mini art car parade.

i've seen several r/c/ cars out there, mostly decorated.
saw a funny "critter" chasing people down last year.

the playa would only have to be harsh on a poor r/c/ car, but that's also part of the fun. buildin', wreckin', fixin', etc.

i think it would be bad ass to see a gas powered one geared up for the playa hauling ass across the floor!
-(but that's just the WT part of me).

How about a little fire truck with a water pumper and ladder? Run them around the burn bins.

I think the mini art car parade would be very cool.

OK, I charged up my rc/cars and decided which one to attack with my zealous imagination & crippling ability to trick it out a bit. No real concrete ideas as of yet, but my mind is spinning! I was thinking of a tribute to one of our dogs who died recently. She was a burner at heart...wild and willing to try anything once.

it was either '97 or '98 when breedlove and arfons (i think) recreated their rivalry at burning man with rc cars. i can't for the life of me remember who won...

R/C Bunny Hop!

Post by cottontail » Tue Apr 06, 2004 2:21 pm

Last year I brought up two R/C cars. One I decorated as a bunny which you can see in the previous picture. It also had a wireless camera mounted on it to capture people's reactions as the bunny would chase them around. Great fun. I also brought up a ramp and jumped the bunny over people. A note of caution, the playa dust really gets everywhere, you need to clean your car very well after each use. The dust also corrodes metal if the car is not cleaned. Bring an R/C which you don't mind getting a lot of abuse. Anyone interested in putting together an Art R/C parade? Let me know.

Ok, I'm ready.
I'm bringing a R/C art car to the Playa, where do we meet?
I think this is going to be a great event!
Have any of you heard about Mini-Z R/C?
I'm from Norway and we race Mini-Z every week.
If you have a Mini-Z overland or Monster, please bring it to the playa and we can find a spot to go wild. :D

spectabillis,

did you see the little flyer last year zipping about 9:30 and 5th st. back?
it was like an ultra lite rc plane, but biased to a "flying wing" design.

it was actually pretty cool. -(because i wasn't in eye-gouging distance).
i think it's a great idea *with* a camera to boot.).

i think the funny part was, it wasn't flying around out on the playa, it was just in the outter hood zipping around.
