And then you forgot to mention the 14 killed in Binghamton NY--both of his guns were legal and registered.

There are lots of crazy people and any stresser can set them off. Can't go jumping to conclusions or take extreme positionis based on the wacko's in the world.

This certainly isn't the first time these sort of things have happened and it won't be the last.

This has nothing to do with Obama or his policies. Now stop it with all this reactionary fear mongering.

seems it used to be ok to blame whatever president is or was in office for everything that goes or went wrong.........why stop now?............

That has always been "life at the top", getting blamed for whatever happens, "on your watch"............

LOL. So I should blame Obama for my hang-nail? I wouldn't even blame Bush for some idiot that decides to shoot up a college campus or blow up an abortion clinic. I would only blame the president if he condoned such behavior.

Now if it were a terrorist attack...

The tensions are not Obamas fault, but some of the solutions are his responsibility. Escalating military spending, troop levels and engagements in Afghanistan and not initiating deep financial reform in this country are his responsibilities.

OK, here's my take on this. We all had to put up with GWB for the last eight years and look what it got us. Now all the republicans and other ledt-wing nut jobs suddenly have all the right answers to fix things.

Well, it's now Obama's turn, so shut up, let him do his thing, (after all, he did win the election) and if he doesn't do what he promised in four years, vote him out of office.

As the saying goes--Lead, follow or get out of the way. The republicans had their chance for eight years to do their leading, so it's time for them to shut the fuck up and start following--or get the hell out of the way and let the man do his job!

(Just my not so humble opinion.)

As much as a president can be good or bad, the problems of the country or the worlds aren't their fault. They're just an easy target for blame.

There are three branches of the US government and the executive branch is actually probably the weakest of the three -- with the exception of Executive Orders the other two can override the President -- if we really must blame someone then it should be congress or the supreme court. I may have voted for the president -- I got no direct vote for the members of the supreme court, only got 2/535th vote for congress.

So whose fault is it? Probably really the blame lies with the British -- if they hadn't lost the revolutionary war it'd all be QEII's fault.

jkisha, I've covered this ground with you before. I am not going to sit and wait for Obama to do the right thing. The problems demand big changes, bigger than Barak is so far willing or able to enact. If you wanna sit on your haunches and watch, go for it bro.

Interesting confession on the status of our first amendment.

I am neither republican or democrat, I am an American.
I'll be damned if I will shut the hell up and start "following" anyone.

considering how, now, our government is depicting military and returning vets as "threats"................

they probably know, if called to "repress the populous", many individuals will resist that order.........

I go back to two ruled of tyranny:

one: Don't piss off the peasants

two: if you're going to piss them off, dis-arm them first

for me, the frustrating part is, that, most people in this country have already chosen sides on the gun control debate..........if they care at all........

and, IMHO, the ones who are in favor, support these sort of programs, because, they think it'll keep them "safe" from all those terrible "militias"........
they don't feel the need to be protected from "run of the mill" criminals, because, as long as they roll over and co-operate with their demands, they won't get hurt.....and, if we'd just "care" more, there wouldn't be so many criminals, anyway..........
More social programs and "love" will make the world a safer place.......

and, of course, if something is illegal, the "criminals" will line up with the rest of us to turn in guns.......

And, IMHO, most of them feel, since the "messiah" is in power, anything the government does is in their best interest, to make things "fair" and "safe", and, the gov. is their "friend".
I think what's lost on many folks, is, once the gov. gets powers, they don't give them up.
Whether you agree or not with a particular administration, realize the new "powers" granted them, will also be available to the next, and so on, and, so on........and, some later administrations may not be nearly so "benevolent", and, have only your best interest at heart.........

Zeus, I can't definitively say that the info on american gun owners has or has not been transmitted to other countries. I have read that Obama wants to lock the US into an international treaty on small arms that would eventually result in confiscation of most arms. I can't find the source right now.

Maybe the option to 'rent' a gun if you want to hunt or target practice?

I don't ask this as an attack, just, for me, a clarification.

I note in most of your political posts, a definate attitude against "old values, institutions, etc".

I'd guess, then, that your ideal would be, where we're all "protected and served" by the government?

Sort of a "womb to the tomb" government involvement in our lives?

Just wonderin'......

No not society, just you! Only kidding of course unless its machine guns. No one needs them but if one has one then everyone should have them and carry them all the time in case one nuts starts spraying them in the mall or at a baseball game.

Doesn't that sound stupit? Sure it does. I bet I own more guns than you?
