You are going to be hard pressed to find someone on this forum that fits what your looking for. There are relatively few people on here, so finding another deaf burner might be a little difficult here.
Once you get to the playa, you may have better luck locating someone who can sign with you.
There is so much to see and do on the playa and I am sure you will have an amazing time there.
You will not be missing the techno thump, thump shit that is playa all night. I really hate that crap!
Oh, and by the way, WELCOME and see you on the playa!

I can only see through one eye....does that count for anything ??
But seriously, just because a person is deaf does not give them a get out of OOOntz free card....bass frequencies are felt deep into the bones over at Simon's camp.

I know of one burner who's somewhat deaf. I'm not sure if *he* uses/knows Amsil (is that right?) or not.
Odd. I've never even thought about it before.
From what I understand about american deaf persons' relation to time, playa time should be much the same.

No Fishy, I do not know ASL. I do have a program that teaches it though. Problem is that most people who have no hearing loss will not even think that they should learn it. Have to admit that it is a bit cumbersome to use. My ex said that I should learn it and I started to but unless you have to rely on it for communication it is so much easier to use speech, that there was no real effort there. I guess that I should install that program. While I have been mostly deaf all my life due to birth defect, it also appears to be hereditary have significant hearing loss later in life. All of my brothers started experiencing loss of hearing in their 40s. So it is getting worse.

BoxB...you know you gotta...You should at least learn how to ASL Finger spell....Just in case!
I can finger spell, so can my kids. I taught them the alphabet at the same time I taught them the spoken alphabet. I think they were around 2yrs old? Was so much easier to do it at the same time.
So both my girls "no hearing impairments" can finger spell to this day.
And my oldest actually took it further and did pick up some ASL over the last 20 yrs.
I found it to be a excellent tool! Ive had costumers come into shops Ive worked in and been able to communicate their needs with no hassles.

There was a camp - Camp Flying Hand's that camped
with Gigsville a number of years ago; the year I was Mayor.
They were a GREAT crew, and allot of fun to camp with.
If I can find anything regarding they're attendance, I post
the link for you.

Not to medicalize your condition, you might want to email 911(at)burningman(dot)com and see what ESD has to say. They are good people.

I'm hard of hearing on my left side. When I was a Tehatchapie Mens's Facility (prison) they sent me to Corcoran hearing lab. They were going to give me a deaf vest to wear out in the yard so the snipers would not shoot me if we got an order to get down, but I got released early. I got my bifocal glasses a week before being released on parole.
In 1968, I was firing from behind a tree. Another GI jumped on top of me and we were both firing. The ejection port on his M16 was right over my left ear. That ear has been bad for 40 years.
I was a teachers aide for a hearing impaired class in Wheatland just outside Beale AFB. But I have since forgotten all but the most basic Amislan. ( american sign language )
