HOW????
awww come on share the secret with my precious......
Avatars...quick ways to make them?
Personalized avatars in 3 EZ steps
Step 1:
Find or make a source image. This can be just about anything. Digital photos work very well. When considering your choice of source image, there are three things to kep in mind. First, is it asthetically pleasing? (i.e. does it look neat?) Remember, people will be viewing this image over and over and over again. Second, does it have character? Personality? Does it suggest a mood or tone of voice? Your avatar is your "face" on the board but it has only one expression, and this expression will color every post you make. Third, is it visually clean? Can someone look at it and immediately tell what it is? 80x80 pixles does not leave room for context and you don't want your avatar looking like a random jumble of colors. Please note that these criteria are ranked in order of importance.
Step 2:
Go to download.com and get yourself a simple image editing program. (If you have a mac, iphoto is OK, graphic converter is better. Both are free.) Once you've installed the program, familiarize yourself with the interface. Specifically, look for four functions: Open, Crop, Resize, and Save As. Once you've found them, Open your source image, Crop it to the part you want as your avatar, Resize it to the limit required by the forum (80x80 pixles on the ePlaya), and Save As a jpeg. Remember to save it somewhere easy to find, like My Documents.
Step 3:
Go to your ePlaya profile. Scroll to the Avatar Control Panel. Click the Choose File button next to "Upload Avatar From Your Machine:". Find your avatar file and click Choose. Then hit submit. Voila! You have a custom avatar

Anything purple is mine. Anything else can be dyed or painted.
This is the program I use. http://www.irfanview.com/ It's free and it'll also play/display just about anything. I usally find an image I like and then play with the crop, resize, and color reduction options until I have something I'm happy with.
When in doubt, push the RED button!
