Newbie needs help

Post by samwone » Mon Apr 13, 2009 3:38 pm

Hi guys!
I am new to Burning Man, but have wanted to join for years. I will be in the States this summer and would love to be a part of Burning Man.
I will be on the East Coast and don't have a car. I will fly over and maybe one of you guys has an extra space in you're car. As I don't live there and a first-timmer I wanted to know if I could join any of you, or if not, just a lift. I will be traveling alone (as far as I know), and am willing to help out as much as I can.
I am open to advice or help. I'm a 23 year old guy from Spain (with perfect English as parents are from England) and I will be working til the end of the summer in R.I.)
Any comments for a new guy or for traveling alone are welcome. I hope to see you guys soon!!
Sam

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Hi Sam!

I'm new too.

From what I read if you can get to the airport in Reno you shouldn't have much trouble finding a ride. Get on Tribe.net and check out the ride sharing board that (I believe) will be launched on the burning man web site at some point.

Have faith and it will work out.

Cheers

Hi Sam, welcome! If you havn't done so already, buy your ticket now and start reading the first timers guide and survival guide. If you fly into Reno, Nevada you should be able to hitch a ride, you could also fly into San Francisco, California but if you do that make sure you arrange a ride before hand. There is also always the option of renting a car. Hope it all works out. We'll be looking forward to you getting to the playa!

Snowflake Village

You might consider Snowflake Village (www.clevian.com/snowflake2009).

We have people from around the world in our Village, even from China! We admit a single camper if they come from far away. We love the international guest. We have no Village fees. You just need to get there from Reno (use the Burning man Rideshare board) and bring in your basic water, food, and a tent.

Hi! First of call, welcome, you'll have blast.

You won't have any trouble finding a ride from Reno. Just go to any of the superstores (ask around, everybody will know where you're headed). Besides, someone will probably be there at the airport to greet you at the BM kiosk.
