I thought this thread was about the MASS NUMBERS of Dj's...not what when or how they play....

When I make a DJ joke, its more about the fact that 75% of kids nowadays wanna be a DJ!

Seems every time I turn around I hear another person say, "ya Im gonna be a DJ when I grow up!"

Ya, you and 2,000,000,000 other kids! Good luck on job competition!

Hence my comment earlier about it seeming that these days everyone thinks they are a DJ. That reminds me, I actually wrote a track a few years back called "Everyone wants to be a DJ", used to be on Acid Planet (hmm.. wonder if its still there)... Anyway, yeah I don't do it for money anyhow, but I'll battle any one of these little snarky kid DJs anytime... I may spin DnB, but I come from a turntablist background... BringZ it AwN!!!

Ahhhhhhh, my fucking FAVORITE topic/argument on here...the ole dj and rave camps. A while back the non raving assholes used to make threats to camps and always had to bitch about someones camp being too loud and they couldn't sleep. Now a days people are saying that there are too many dj's at Burning Man ?? That is nonsense. There are 5000 times more stinky hippies than there are dj's on the Playa.

What is wrong with people or even kids wanting to become dj's ?? Most headlining dj's could easily make 100 times more money than most people on here make in a year. Think i'm kidding ?? There are a big handful of dj's around the World that are getting paid $50,000 - $100,000 for a 2 hour set and doing that 3-4 times a week. A WEEK !!!

lets see, at 50 weeks x 200,000 week equals 10 million dollars a year.

i know some that make even more than that...

i also know you'd be wiser to go to school and become a doctor, a lawyer, a banker or a real job like ARTIST or Scientist or Teacher, because EVERYbody who plays basketball cannot be like Mike. Everybody who ever picked up a baseball bat, or even played in high school is not gonna get a-rod's contract. Every rapper wants to be Snoop (i know i'm dating myself, but snoop is still the shiznik) and every skater dreams of being tony hawk and making the big bucks with the video endorsement and the sponsorship from willy wonka and their picture on the new boxes of Chewy Nerds(tm).

the laws of probability say that the overwhelming vast majority of DJ's are spanking it, day in, day out, with no hope of ever not spanking it. As always, it requires Talent, Good luck, Knowing the right people, being in the right places, all pretty much random, and to chance except talent, and that sometimes doesnt even elevate the individual to stardom and the cush salary you describe.

my son included, and the camp founder and DJ at Root Society and good friend of mine, so i'm not anti-DJ, i just wont let my daughters marry one.
