Tin boxes for gifting- geocaching and google earth event
Tin boxes for gifting- geocaching and google earth event
I have been gifted 47 cardboard cartons containing 4 dozen tin boxes in each cardboard carton. Each dozen is in it's own cardboard box. That's 2,256 tin boxes. Each tin box is 6 in.X 5 in.X 1.5 in.. They have 2 latching clamps to hold lid on. There are 4 small holes in each top lid corner so they are not airtight.
I intend to make first-aid kits out of some, moon-time kits out of others. They are big enough to hold a large sandwich and a couple of energy bars, like a mini-lunchbox.( I'd put 'em in a baggie though because of the holes.)
I am in the process of removing vendors labels and paper inserts from each tin box. They were intended to hold jewelry. I next will put blank address labels on the side to hide painted e-mail address, (for the boxes I'm using.) You could cover the address with whatever label or paint you want.
They are silver on top and bottom and the 1.5 inch edge is red. The small address is on the two long sides. Very shiny, almost mirror like top and bottom.
You are welcome to a dozen tins in a cardboard box, or 4 dozen tins in a large cardboard carton, or a dozen large cartons. Whatever you take, give to burners. You have to come get them though. I am a poor man and can't ship. Don't ask.
They are located at 39* 16'21.30'' N 121* 40'05.90'' W . ( Hint - That's in the Sacramento Valley for geo-cachers and google-earthers.) They will be on a small trailer next to the yellow hydrant. Happy hunting...when they are gone, they are gone.
Ps. If you can, please leave some first aid supplies like bandaids, bandages. pads, tampons, wipes, etc. on the trailer, or in the mailbox.

joint project?
I love messing with tins. Took a course on how to use chemicals & torches to rust them - it would obscure any printing/labels, too. I do a lot of mixed media work.
If you're interested, maybe we could join forces in creating gifting items?
I'm not too far from your neck of the woods. northshore of Tahoe.
