Been down this road several times. Have used the patch, hypnosis, accupuncture, many others. All worked for awhile. Sometimes a loooooong while, and I do agree - it's a mind thing. With any addiction. Ya just gotta want it bad enough. My last quitting episode I used Chantix. Used it for 2 months and after awhile it made smoking sooooo not taste good. Was quit for 6 months, loved it. Then the housefire hit 4 months ago and I said fuck it and sparked up one, and that was it. It's usually like that with me - I get stressed and go into fuck it mode. Meh!!! I've been in the same viscious cycle for years too!!! Most recently I had shoulder surgery back in January, pretty much had quit the entire 6 months before that. Sitting at home bored, started smoking again. They say Pilot Travel Centers, Kangaroo, Costco, Travel Centers of America, Petro, Smoker Friendly, Flash Market, and all Meijer Supercenters. So it looks like a lot of the larger truck stop chains sell them. I'm on my way out the door to run errands and was going to Meijers anyway. Think I might have to check this out.
Well the ashtray smell is not there anymore and the reload cartriges are less than a carton of smokes. The equivalent of a carton of smokes is 20 bucks with the NJOY system. My teeth are fucked for other reasons mainly the lack of money for dental so I'm just waiting and planning for dentures down the road. Wow that one looks identical and there are more flavor options. Anyone want to buy my NJOY? (just kidding no commerce eh) I was curious as to whether NJOY or now this company as well would be making some sort of bio-friendly cartridge or offering recycling of used ones. I've been using it for about a week now, and it has helped me cut back on cigarette smoking, although it's not quite as satisfying as a real cigarette. They did a pretty good job replicating one though. I think if I switch to the cartridges with the higher nicotine content I could probably ween myself off the cancer sticks entirely.
Aside from that, the only disappointments I've encountered are that even though they aren't cigarettes, a lot of bars still don't want you using them because they look like a cigarette and it might encourage other smokers to light up. And the cartridges are much less biodegradable than the equivalent cigarette butts.
Otherwise, I've been fully enjoying the ability to "smoke" in places where it's generally not allowed... which since there is no smell even includes bathrooms in places that don't want them used in visibility. I can now smoke inside my apartment again, and don't have to worry about ashtrays or accidental burning. Plus, since it's still unfamiliar to most people it can be a really interesting icebreaker!
