Aloha

Post by erisheiress » Thu Apr 23, 2009 10:37 pm

Hiya. I've burned to attend BM since first I heard about it, though it wasn't until this year I really cared enough to make the sacrifices necessary to make it happen. (It still may not, we'll see.)

My partner and I spoke often of attending this year; he got to attend in 2002. He passed away suddenly in December, which was the catalyst for my decision to attend this year, come hell or high water. It was also the catalyst for a lot of positive change in my life. This year's theme of Evolution is synchronistic with my own life at the moment - I feel everything in the universe is pushing me to make it this year.

I'm looking forward to leaving something of his at the Temple.

You can lead a man to reason, but you cannot make him think.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

That's exactly where I am this year as well. My condolences. Here's to a fresh start! :)

Welcome heiress. Coming to Burning Man this year sounds like a great way to remember him. Sorry to hear of your loss.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss.

The Temple of Rememberance is a great place to sit and reflect, as well as be with others who suffered a loss. I have sat for quite some time there.

As well as an object, you may consider writing a long letter to your loved one and pinning it to the Temple. Many people can put their deep thoughts and feelings into words and find it very healing. Some people feel the need to put a letter in a sealed envelope for it to be "delivered" at the Sunday burn.

A good friend of mine lost his wife last year and came to BM for the first time in 2008. When I saw him in the middle of the week, he seemed happy and at peace because he was able to connect with his loss and give the situation some closure.

I wish you all the best and see you on the playa!!
