Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.
I'm looking for a ride to and from.. don't care where I need to fly into just so I get to BM and back to the airport. I also need a small food/supply shopping trip at Kmart or somesuch. I come with 2 duffels only but can reduce to 1 if need be. I would also dig getting along with someone for early entry and building something not too hard as I'm still not 100 percent with my foot. I've built and help to build domes and starplate structures and some of the other styles of temp building and can handle ANYTHING that doesn't involve heavy lifting.
I'd also dig being able to shower somewhere and rest for a day or two after the event and come a day or two early before departure to get shit done in an orderly and unrushed fashion.
I'm clean, travel really light as far as burners go, and am happy with a couch or floor to crash on with my sleeping bag. I will have a tent this year but I usually sleep outdoors with my trusty camelback by my side.

Ridshare to and from Airport
Hi, My name is Brian and I'll be flying into Reno on August 30th. I arrive at 12:20pm. I plan to rent a small SUV or Minivan and spend the afternoon of the 30th getting all my supplies ready, eat a nice dinner, take a long hot shower and then head off to the playa for 12:01am on the 31st. If anyone needs a lift and wants to share the cost of the rental car that would be great. You'd have to commit to riding out to BRC and back to Reno on the days I'm traveling. I plan on leaving BRC on Monday the 7th, stay in a hotel room till the 8th and again eat, shower and dispose of any garbage I had to carry off the playa.
HAHA what preferred dates? I have NO CLUE wtf is goin on with my dates yet. The ORG is soo slow with volunteer apps n stuff. I don't think I'll have any real idea as to my arrival date until probably the end of June or something.djaded wrote:Toolmaker,
Aren't you a stagger? We will be in and out during your prefered dates. Wanna ride?
Texas might be a nice place to roadtrip from but I would have to see at least one caddy with horns and gun door handles while I'm there. I've never been able to goto TX yet.. but they like guns so I like Texans. :p Problem with me and the flying method is I am kinda stuck with whatever airport I choose, I'm too broke to rent anything and will likely be too poor for hotel rooms this time out. I was tryin to entertain the thought of driving from FL with my S10 so I can bring lots of shit like propane tanks and plumbing and my BBQ and futon and dome etc etc. BUT I can't swing the gas myself OR the 4 day drive each way. I'm down for it mind you.. camping all along the way etc etc.. maybe even 5 day each way it for comfort but I can't do the 18 hour drives like I used to. Nobody I know is tough enough for BM, bunch of softies down here. Most ppl can't swing the time off for a month long thing, and some that can you don't want to ride with. (playa flake factor and all that)
I will most likely be operating out of Reno.. BUT maybe I could fly home via Texas!! I didn't get my plane ticket yet.. if I'm gonna avoid RSR the least I can do is try to have my shit together with awesome dependable folks beforehand so I'm not too fucked in the RSR dept. I always try not to be the worst fukstik on the playa.. hell sometimes I'll even pick other ppls moop.
As far as dates I think I might get in early to build something and if I get really lucky I will catch a hippie with nightvision. Getting to make use of my mad inspection skills would be nice with the DMV during the week and ride permitting maybe a day or two tearin shit down and cleaning up. I'm sure there's something I could learn from Earth Guardians.. the first two year they were "evil" since I was too into the flaming piano tosses and whatnot. Someone should at least TRY to cleanup a lil afterall.
I'll update the thread.. so far set in stone is fun noisy themecamp and quiet sleeping camp.
Those camps know who they are...
and maybe.. just maybe.. i'm probably asking for it here.. but maybe I'll try where the REAL noise is. I really hope I come home with some sort of hearing..
i don't have the best as it is now..
I might be helping someone drive stuff out to the playa but since the ORG is slow with their move and all alot of folks are behind on the info this year. Hopefully this will pickup B4 ppl start showing up on the playa. I think we are like 2-4 weeks behind last years schedule or something.
My big thing is I got to figure out when the hell I can get in to build a dome or something. And if not than I can plan for the usual mass arrival and party in the line. Did that line party thing last year.. it was neat but nowhere near as awesome as doing a lil something to make it happen. Even having a tiny part of building something before everyone arrive is awesome. The playa is BEST when its almost bare.. I'll never forget my first trip to the playa for a model rocket thing called BALLS. I was just a tourist to the rockets but when you drive out there when its empty its a whole different experience. Just put a brick on your gas pedal and hop up on your hood.
This is why we have to take ALL the rebar with us kids.

Ride from Sacremento
I need to leave from Sacremento maybe 8/31 and return possibly early (Thurs or Fri). I might rent a car and be looking to share. Alternatively wouldn't mind a hitch. I am a virgin but so have a camp to go to once I get there.

Gil Here. My partner and I seek a ride out to BRC on August 20 from Oakland or anywhere in the BAY AREA. We'll probably have 2 bicycles to haul too. We're part of the volunteer crew for ESD. 718 614 0181
Need A Ride From LA
Hey peeps, this will be my second year heading out to the burn (sacrificed Defcon for BM lol) and I'm in need of a ride this time around. I live in the south east los angeles area (near Commerce), I can work on your schedule (just let me know in advance when you plan in leaving and what time you can pick me up) and I'm more than willing to share the cost of gas. I can help out with the driving as well since we all know it's a very very long drive lol. If you have any projects you're working on for BM let me know and I'd be willing to help you out as well. I have a background in art design and fine arts.
So if this sounds good to you send me a PM and we'll work out the details.

My girl Bekah and I are looking for a ride from the Seattle area but are not able to leave until the 30th at the very earliest due to my brother's wedding being on the 29th. More than willing to throw in on gas and supplies.dragonpilot wrote: I wanna see who's looking for a ride.

Re: Rideshare page
never rely on the rideshare board being available at a time when its useful. best to check out here, and occasionally tribe if you can - get your personal info exchanged quick, and work out the details on your own. for plans that dont work out at the event, for whatever reason, there is a physical rideshare board in center camp, somewhere around media-mecca and the cafe.dragonpilot wrote:When does the dang Rideshare thingy power up? "Burning Van"
For anyone who needs a ride from Reno to BRC and/or BRC to Reno... I may have a solution. I have a 9 passenger van "Burning Van" that will leave once a day at (6pm) to BRC. Except Sunday 8/30/09 night there will be a midnight departure. There is a cost of $42. The van will be pulling a trailer for transporting supplies. Contact me for more details at [email protected].

For anybody in the Placer County area (Newcastle/Auburn or even Roseville) who needs a ride, we have room for up to four people and their equipment (within reason) in our RV. Also have early-arrival passes. We will be leaving Newcastle 7 a.m. on Saturday the 29th and coming home Sunday late morning after The Burn. PM me if you need a ride.
