yeah, by then the mud is concrete........
we had a tragic/funny episode out in the desert about 20 years ago........
a fellow was on the edge of another playa, some sage and grass.
he sunk his new "Wagoneer", just like in the picture. He just kept gassing it until all 4 wheels were buried, to the frame.
well......
the catalytic converter laid on the sage and grass, caught fire, burned his new truck all up.........dang.........
he laughed, since he said insurance would cover it......so, we laughed with him............

Four wheel drive is unbeatable and necessary for driving your truck in snow, pulling boats up slippery boat ramps, etc. but you gotta be careful... sometimes it just lets you get farther into trouble before you finally get really stuck!

in 97' my 2nd ex-wife and i rented a ford taurus which of course, we decided to ride around in one day, playing moving target for the Golf Range on the far end near Motel 666.. We got stuck...
of course the assholes on the golf range continued to pelt us as we dug ourselves in to the frame.
100$ & a 12 pack later a local with a monster rig dragged us out from 100 ft away with a tow line and we learned a valuble lesson.
if you fuck up a rental car REALLY badly, leave the keys in it in some shitty section of reno..alright, anywhere in reno, and it will get stolen and you'll be off the hook, even for the cleaning charge.
live and learn, live and learn.

The truth is that if we stop pumping the aquifer underneath Venice, Venice will stop sinking.
Of course, if global climate change does cause all those glaciers to release water in the seas, it may not matter.

Speaking strictly, clay never stops consolidating -- you could remove the whole city, stop pumping groundwater, and the ground would still settle from its own weight.theCryptofishist wrote:The truth is that if we stop pumping the aquifer underneath Venice, Venice will stop sinking.
So it's a good thing we have bunringman to replenish all the dust that settles in the Black Rock Desert, otherwise there'd just be a big hole in the ground.

May I suggest the Sand's RV lot? Not the best security there.Simon of the Playa wrote:

We had our costume garment bag stolen out of our roof topper there. Our fault for not locking it (we forgot), but still, costumes? I want to catch the bum in my gold lame coat.

Any place on 4th St is a target. This past Saturday my wife and I walked from the Aces ballpark near 4th and Evans to the NDOT yard where we parked the car, and every block we could smell dry urine. Especially near Record St where the "Tent city" sprang up last yearAntiM wrote:May I suggest the Sands RV lot? Not the best security there.
