New from Denmark, Help

Post by esben K » Wed May 06, 2009 11:03 am

HI
I'm from Denmark in Scandinavia, Europa. I work in a grocery shop called Indkøbcentralen in the Freetown of Cristiania.

Her is a link to Christiania internet site.
http://www.christiania.org/modules.php? ... vn=linkeng

I want to be part of burning man but find it a bit complicated?. I don't know how I'm going to do it. I Think I wood like to know somebody To meat up with ore something. What I can contribute with kind of depends on how I'm going to go. Any help ???
I don't have a drivers licence and so I cant drive myself. I have never been to U.S.A before.

Maybe it is not possible. Anyone who want to help?
Can I do it alone.
Regards Esben

i would start with the burners without borders and see if anyone else from denmark or that area is going. plan a meet up and start making some plans. if that doesnt work keep reaching out to people through this board and make some friends. do you have facebook or myspace so people can check you out, to get to know you to see if you would fit in their camps? it's a start.

Esben, you'd get rather wet driving. I suggest flying in an airplane, destination Reno.

Seriously, check out Burners without Borders.

Read up on it.
THis is the first timers guide
This is last year's survival guide. I'm guessing that you might want to have an english/danish dictionary near by while you do it. Which is not saying anything about your command of English. It's much better than my Danish!

I'm not going to pretend that not knowing someone wont complicate things. It looks like the closest regionals are the Germans. I can say that they really came through for me and my family when I had an accident in Austria in 2007. There are also a group of Norweigians on here, perhaps they might give you advice. http://regionals.burningman.com/eu_index.html
What I can contribute with kind of depends on how I'm going to go. Any help ???
Don't worry too much about contributing, just get yourself over here and help out when you see people doing things. Ask first. I, for one, have issues with people helpling me and can get quite snappish about it.

There will be a rideboard on this site in the summer. Perhaps you can find someone there.

Hi.

This has been a grate experience. I have gotten a lot of help. I have already contact with a Danish guy who has been to Burning Man before and are going again this year. He even knows of 3 other who also is going. I hope I will get some good info from them. I will rite to playa international wher ther has been Danes and mybe they know something.

Yes, Cristiania is threatened but it has been like that most of the time I learn from the ones who has been her since the beginning. Its a special place and the world will not bee the same if they make it into expensive luxurious apartments and tempt everybody to sell out and move away.

I'm too young to bee a hippi I was born when Christiania was made.

Do you have something like Cristiania in the states? I have heard from a friend who has been on tour whit his band on the vest cost that there is surprisingly a lot of hoses ore places for alternative hippi freaks? Cool if so.

Thank you all
Esben

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

esben, welcome to eplaya. I was checking out your link although I didnt get to far as the site was set up kinda un-user friendly as far as reading the pages on what Chrisiania is about, but I think I got the general vibe. While I'm not aware of communities that mirror Christiania, when you ask if there are similar communities here in the states this is the closest that I could come up with....Intentional Communities

http://www.ic.org/

Hooking up with fellow Danes is a great idea and chance to learn more about the burn, and how to go about getting there from where your at. Obviously it can be done and I for one welcome the chance to meet with and listen to accents besides our own homogenous one
Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.
