Luggage/Gear Shipping to BM?

Post by Johntdog » Thu May 07, 2009 1:28 pm

Is it possible for Burners to ship items to BM?

If it were available, Burners could easily travel to BM "sans" vehicle.
Best,
John

Also: If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle.

Search this site for "shipping containers" and you'll find threads about groups pooling resources (esp from east coast) to move their stuff to BRC.

As far as hiding in a crate so UPS can deliver you to your camp site, I'd remind you to punch air-holes in the lid. I learned this lesson the hard way with my hamster (R.I.P.)
Irony. You're soaking in it.

UPS and USPS and good timing will have your duffels sitting waiting for you to pickup for their pickup facility/post office.

It is better IMO to have someone accept your UPS duffels/boxes to have and hold onto for you before the event. This way if someone gets lost in shipping you have time to replace it.

If you have a huge amount of shit you want to move than the shipping container co-op is the way to go.

When your airplane lands, just call Larry and he'll be at the gate to pick up your baggage. Yes, he accepts tips! Which room will you be staying in, ma'am?

Anyone who goes to Burningman must have a ticket. That puts USPS, FedEx and UPS right out, even if they could find it and cared to go out there.

Your best bet would be working a deal with another BM celebrant online, namely one of us.

The USPS will deliver letters and possibly SMALL packages to the Black Rock Post Office for delivery on playa. No guarantee whatsoever that it will get to your camp. It wouldn't be fair to the naked bicycle delivery volunteers to ship big packages.

(There's a dirty joke in there somewhere, isn't there?)

I've received cards and postcards in camp. But then I know my BRC addy pretty well most years.

Alaska Airlines, and other agents get in without tickets. I know - I picked up a couple of my mates at the airport and their luggage was on the next morning flight.

Alaska Airlines said its common and will deliver right to playa. - they did so, and tracked us down at our camp. Thats the only time Alaska has done anything right for me.
