Just introducing myself.

Post by Firefist.Ace » Wed May 06, 2009 9:33 pm

Hi everyone, my name is Alex/Ace and my fiance and I will be braving the desert for our first time this year. We're thrilled, and just kind of looking to meet some people to look for once we get out there. Any of you out there interested in stage combat/sword fighting/fencing, let me know!

Can I stage-combat you with a flogger or paddle instead?

Welcome, friends.

Er...the boffer swords not so much what I meant lol. Check out Baltimore Knife and Sword for some of the most gorgeous blacksmith work, but that's just a good example of stuff we use.

Yeah, we're BM virgins, but just dying to go. We're hoping to get a wicked party, some good fire spinning, and a spirit-walk through the desert all in one trip. Seems like the place so far........... :D

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Hey, welcome, Ace!

I might or might not bring some Real Swords. I have heard about BKS, but haven't seen the blades in person.

What I have is a Del Tin and a Angus Trim, plus a few Japanese antiques that are staying home. (Got my eye on a couple of others, too.) We may even do some test-cutting, if you're into it.

The boffers are something that anyone can play with relatively safely and express their inner barbarian, which is the point of Barbarian Camp. If you have some stage fight routines, I'd like to see it. :)

Drop by our hovel if you get a chance. Or, consider camping with us, it's up to you.

Very cool, barbarian. Might consider it! We'll probably have some fights thrown together for demos if we can grab some open stage time somewhere, and yeah, everyone can just go nuts with the boffers without having to worry about getting there knuckles broken at least. We'll stop by no doubt, I'll search the boards for some more info on your camp. We're thinkin about going it ourselves this year, and maybe joining with a theme camp next year.

So I spent about oh the better part of the morning at work today just cruising through that thread....

I have to say if nothing else, probably the most appealing thing is how quickly your group seems to turn from sex, swill, and loud obnoxious music to searching for baser natures and primal instincts as a noble savage with an ancient code.

I'll dig some up once I'm not on my work computer. I actually am VP/mostly-in-charge-of a big anime/video game convention down here, hence the big influence of Japanese Culture...we do a Renaissance festival style chess match but with anime, comic book, and video game characters.

I'll see if I can't find some vids or pictures at least.

Hey UD!

Found some videos of the Chess Match last year on youtube - I'm the one in Black (eventually the black and white cloak) dual wielding. Obviously it's all choreographed, but it's still an incredible art form. Our show is in June, so I'll actually have some really recent stuff right before BM this year!

Enjoy!
