need used carpet???

Post by ThePaperLeaf » Wed May 06, 2009 11:01 am

There is a casino in Reno remodeling their hotel floor-by-floor. Dumpsters are being filled by the ugliest bright aqua & hot pink tropical print carpet you'll ever see.

If you have the ability to pick this up and store it, email me & I'll put you in contact with them.

Don't waste your time.Emailed this joker three days ago and got this response.

how much do you need & would you have the means to store some for another camp?

I guess I did not need enough or could not store enough as never got a reply back.

Meanwhile carpet that could be recycled by many Burners besides myself is headed for the landfill. Thanks alot.

Now if you want GOOD carpet head to the Reno-Sparks Convention Center back lot where there are dumpsters full of rolls of very nice, barely used black carpet.Bring a friend as large rolls and very heavy.
Be careful. You can spend all your money in there..............................Oriental Visitor

I am gonna try to go find some soon myself.

I know there are good deals on lots of stuff when hotels do remodels, I have a friend that got all his pool and deck furniture from a hotel when they were remodeling. (This was here in L.A.)

You can also contact carpet installers in your area. They often have good carpet the have pulled from homes. & Whole sell carpet sellers will have good sized " roll ends" you can get on the cheap. My neighbor installed carpet & he always had some pretty good stuff to give away.
For the burn though.. I'm more a "tarp" kind of gal. 8)

I stopped at a carpet installer and they let me have whatever is on their dump truck. They have to pay someone to drive it to the dump and then pay the dump fees. I got some nice rolls.

You know those little green scrubbies? Well, plant one with some Vigaro and water it 3xs a week, and by burn time you have enough for the inside of a carport.

I am not sure, but I think they are still filling the dumptser at the convention center with that black carpet.
Our neighbor around the corner just came home with two HUGE rolls of it 3 days ago, it looked like he musta had a LOT of help as the rolls were about 4 feet in diameter each.
if they are re-doing the whole place , they can only fit so much in the dumptster at once.
It wouldn't hurt to go see.

Around 11:30 this morning we went to Baldinis in Sparks and there was several rolls at the valet parking entrance. Don't know what the status is.

another possibility is to go around looking for rent signs on apartments. that means they're getting rid of a bunch of carpet. see if you can talk to the building manager or landlord and tell them you'll take it off their hands. two tenants are moving out of my complex and that's how i'm getting mine for this year. 8)
