I know this sounds crazy, but try to put yourself in my position, which is: I'm in eastern Europe, my cash flow is limited, i need a visa to visit the festival & don't have any previous b-man experience, what do i do ???
There must be someone who was in a similar situation and actualy made it to b-man in the end.

Okay I'll try to be helpful but you may not like the answers:Radule wrote:I know this sounds crazy, but try to put yourself in my position, which is: I'm in eastern Europe, my cash flow is limited, i need a visa to visit the festival & don't have any previous b-man experience, what do i do ???

The cash flow problem is one that the Burning Man organizers have taken into account. Persons who are having trouble affording the tickets can go to http://tickets.burningman.com to apply for low-cost tickets. The deadline to apply is July 1st. Of course they're going to be looking for a reason why your ticket should be subsidized, just as we would if you were to put an appeal here for cash donations. If you're looking for someone to buy you an airplane ticket, you might consider local festivals instead.
I believe visas are obtained from the American consulate.
Previous Burning Man experience is NOT required, however a willingness to and ability to take care of yourself in a harsh environment IS required. Some theme camps will take care of some of this for you (for example, food and water), for a fee. If you're looking to join a camp so that some of your amenities will be provided, you can post here or in the "Themecamps and Art Installations" folder.
Good luck.
Talk to Fred at the Black Rock Burner Hostel (I'm pretty sure some one already poted the link in this thread). He deals with a lot of the international people and probably knows a lot about this sort of thing.
I think it's www.blackrockburnerhostel.com, not positive about the link but a search on the BM website should bring up references.

Hi
Im am travelling to BM this year from Britian and just discovereds I will definitely need to arrange a VISA also. Some countries are part of the Waiver Free Program which means that you may not need a VISA, check with your local US consulate. I took the very good advise of speaking to Fred at the international black rock hostel, he helped me out with local contacts and some decent advice. Feel free to PM for more information.
I will obviously know more once I have been, but I recommend you scour these pages, all the information is here but you have to hunt it down, don't expect it to be wrapped up neatly and handed to you. Set aside a regular time to do this and you will build up not only your knowledge base but your excitement as well.
Cheers

Music yo
Being a musician helps. We busk weekly to make money for the event. Really if you want to go that bad, you can make it happen. Ask and the universe will supply.
I also have a smudgy picture of burt reynolds but you cant have it radule. There is just something about him that screams "sexy moustache!" on those lonely nights when I sip wine and light candles while I listen to the divinyls "i touch myself". Mmmmm.
I think somebody should start a "most extreme elimination" type contest for guys like radule who need all this crap from everybody. Prizes will include tickets, camping gear, and a sense of self reliance tthrough earning your way to burning man by entertaining the rest of us. Humiliation+ bodily injury=HILARIOUS!
