Shreck needs a home
In the process of cleaning up our store, I am having a hard time convincing myself to haul Shreck to the dump.

He needs some work, he is not standing in front of the store...he is "resting" in the area behind the gas station.
There is also an equally large "Cat in the Hat" laying back there.
If anyone wants or knows someone who wants Shreck please let me know.

Wheres he located, and whats he made of? Trying to figure out how to move him without destroying him...
Kick ass offer -
007, pull your finger out and point it toward empire. See the store? It's leaning against the wall... Now park that finger again...

As mentioned...he is in Empire Nevada! I am not quite sure how tall/long he is. I would say a 16 ft car trailer and some good rope is all it would take to move him. He is made of rebar chicken and ??? I'm not sure, but I think his body is made of foam instead of paper mache.
I will take a better look this morning and let you know. He is going to need some "re-constructive surgery" in some places...

Thank you for the reply! What did I do wrong when I tried to post the picture??? I hosted the image...included an accurate URL to the image...what is missing???
And by the way...The donkey is MIA
He was already gone when we got the store back.
Gas isn't being sold here yet, but it is cheaper than $3.29 everywhere!!! LOL!!!
We haven't had the $$$ to fix the gas station yet. The guy that was leasing it had the pumps converted over to be remotely controlled by a computer (just like in the big city) and the computer system is gone!

When I took this picture we were headed to a party at Bruno's (I hope you've indulged in the raviolis at Bruno's! nom, nom, nom!
) and we were amazed that gas was the same price in Empire that it was in Reno. So it was also $3.29 in Reno then
At least one good thing has come out of the recession! I do know that to get quotes and images to work you need to go into your profile and click on some adjustments.

when does shrek have to vacate? there is a storage container / room not too far from you that Root Society rents. If no-one else wants him, we'll sure take him, and finally, after all these years, bring his green ass to the burn and set him up someplace special in our camp....
and then burn him.........maybe

Shrek is not being evicted...he just needs to "move along". I don't think the owners of the Mini Storage would appreciate Shrek moving in there. Are you going to be out this way anytime soon? If so PM me and I will give you my cell# and I will make it a point to be here and you can look at him and see if you think he would be worth burning!Simon of the Playa wrote:when does shrek have to vacate? there is a storage container / room not too far from you that Root Society rents. You are also welcome to the Cat in the Hat character as well...

let me see what i can arrange....vast majority of our crew from east coast but a couple of westies in california might be able to do it, or when we roll thru with the 18 wheeler and empty garbage truck we could throw schrecky green right in the back, about a week before start if you can wait until then (aug 22nd? or so).
schrecky green......maybe we'll mike him and do stand up from afar.
and then we'll burn him....possibly

but having looked at the top of the thread again, mdmf has first dibbs, and it would be utilized, so he's got the final say....it would probably be more constructive to use him at a mini-golf, but the thought of his head exploding into a giant ball of flame sorta turns me on for some reason which i dont need to discuss right now.
ok.....i'm a pyro....there, happy?

Nothing further from MDMF...I thought it would be pretty cool at a miniature golf course too but he appears to have gone AWOL!
The sooner the better...but not really urgent. As long as I have a firm "Yes, I want Shrek" then, he can wait here for his ride. If no takers...can you say LANDFILL???

Oh, I thought I left the ball in your court!!. Earliest I could pick it up is After the burn. I get to Gerlach 4-5 times a year, but only once a year with anything big enough to grab him. We have a tractor bringing gear down for the burn, and can leave room in it for Shrek on the way out. Maybe we can grab him for the burn, and bring him to the playa. I arrive a week early.mykidsdaddy wrote:Nothing further from MDMF...I thought it would be pretty cool at a miniature golf course too but he appears to have gone AWOL!

that is so cool....no really....Long Live The Schreck.
i have said hello to schrecky for many years now, sorta like a landmark, something to look for on the way in, like snoopy rock.
"welcome to nowhere" is how he greeted us, year after year.
he is part of my collective memories of BM.
thanks for saving his green ass.

I do remember Shrek and Donkey-- I pulled over to use one of the potties there. Too bad they are gone (especially Donkey-- for some reason I liked the character better.) I am glad to know Shrek is getting a new home.
*for various reasons, BM being one of them, dislike of my new supervisor being another, I am looking into transferring out of Housing at the University, and it seems that the other Custodian positions do NOT have Blackout Dates!

1996-2002 is a blur, due to the lack of back-up procedures when they switched out the implants.
i missed 2003 due to stupidity
now i'll have to dig thru the files, because shit like this drives me crazy-er.
