HIH, basically when you arrive just look for the areas not reserved by the theme camps and you can camp there. Check out the neighbor's and the hood to make sure your gonna like that neck of the woods.
Oh, and don't forget to get your campsite registration immediately upon entering BRC, pick your site, and register prior to setting up camp

Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

"Relative quiet" would more likely be found on the outer streets of BRC away from the concentrated activity near the city center; but quiet is not really an option. We`ve had extremely loud neighbors, even on the outer rings before.
Earplugs, my friend, ear plugs.

For the newbies... in case you missed the sly wink... that part's a JOKE.Sail Man wrote:HIH, basically when you arrive just look for the areas not reserved by the theme camps and you can camp there. Check out the neighbor's and the hood to make sure your gonna like that neck of the woods.

relative quiet
My advice:
If you are seeking relative quiet, sometimes it's better to squeeze into an already populated area where you know exactly who your neighbors are than to camp in a seemingly quiet wide open area.
In the past, I have gone out for a bike ride and returned later in the day to discover that in my absence, a full scale club that played music 24 hours a day set up right next door to me!
Also, although someone made a joke about registering your camp site,
after we choose our site and set up camp, we DO ride down to center camp and register immediately with PLAYA INFO so our friends can find us.

(B)asically when you arrive just look for the areas not reserved by the theme camps and not already taken by other non-theme camp burners and you can camp there.

How much space
How much space can non-theme camp campers take up? My wife and I have some ambitious plans that will require about 40'x75' of space. We'd register for a theme camp, but you have to have at least 3 people in order to register the theme.

It depends on two things: 1, finding the spac ein question, and 2, persuading new neighbors not to take it when they come in.

I when through and filled out most of the registration/placement form only to find near the end that we need at least 3 people. I guess we can either (1) lie or (2) solicit some camp mates before the 5/31 deadline or (3) find a random slob to join us at the last minute.
Not an issue with filling covering the space... we are going to erect a fairly large tent-line structure that will cover most of it. Actually don't have much to put into it yet, though. There will be room on the inside for extra people, but it's not really an effective "shelter", per se -- rather just a shade covering.
Is there a good forum for advertising our theme camp and soliciting help/participants?
