DON'T Fuck On the Blow Up Mattresses ( unless you want to sleep on the ground the rest of the week)
That one almost made me blow OJ all over my monitor! It's so true! Also true if there is a substantial weight difference between you and who you share your bed with. You will launch when they come back from their 4am pee run.

Dammit! I just got rid of 20 years of brides maid dresses! Seriously, I donated them to a non profit for prom dresses. Some poor girl is probably still a virgin due to my hideous collection of late 80's/early 90's taffeta!

We keep a cot in the general shade area, with a dust cover, for people who need to take a daytime nap and don't want to crawl into the tent. the trick is to get a cot which will support a LOT of people, because it will get used as a couch otherwise. I wouldn't sleep on one at night because it gets cold underneath. A mat or foam layer should sole that. Also, we attracted neighboring hippies who wanted to take daytime naps, dusty boots and all. Some people have no couth while visiting other camps.

Have you thought about spreading mothballs around the perimeter of your camp?

if you spread hippy balls, you can have the fun of removal, as well as creating a fine choir for sunday morning hymns......

A cot is a great idea. I use a thermarest pad on top of a regular height cot, and it is very comfy. The brand I have is ALPS extra long and wide and it is made of aluminum, not too heavy, not too bulky. A bed height is nice for getting in and out. The cot alone is kind of hard on my back. As to how it may withstand intimate social activity of a vigorous nature, I suggest you refer to the engineer's response about eliminating sheer when staking a shade structure. The jury has not weighed in with the definitive answer to this issue. If your tent has mesh on the ceiling, I suggest tipping the cot on it's side when you leave each day.

as to do's and don'ts: Do have an open mind about people. Don't decide who is or isn't a "burner" or who does or does not conform to what you think a burner should be. I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised by how this event works through all the people you meet (here and) there. People are still people, and when there are so many of them, you'll find some who ah for fucks sake, you aren't going to like everyone there either. Do say "hello," and say "hello" back to those who say it to you. Refer to the book, "Everything I know about Burning Man, I learned in kindergarten"

so what is the proper way to visit a neighbor? do you take your shoes off before entering? i know that when i visit hawaiian/asian homes i take my shoes off at the front door. also, falling asleep not in your own tent/ taking up someone else's spot that they had pre-thought to prepare for themselves... is that okay?

As long as you are thinking about the possibility that your fellow camper may be a homicidal maniac, then you're way ahead of everyone else.

There is nearly always some random drunk asleep somewhere under my shade - better there than in the JOTS.

The best introduction I ever saw in our camp was in 2004 when our next door neighbor came to our camp butt-ass naked. She sat down on the couch and said, “I could really use a good fisting.â€
