Never too late!
Never too late!
Hey all,
My group of friends here in San Francisco have all been to burning man multiple times before I met them. For years I've been asking if they intend to go and finally this year they are! I bought my ticket the day after I found out!
I have a lot of questions and eplaya is a great help but what I'm wondering about now is what I'm going to eat. Does anyone have any good menu suggestions? Any threads here I should look at? Cooking tips much appreciated too!
Can't wait to see you all!
Rich

Hey there, welcome to eplaya.
There's tons of threads on food. Some people eat out of cans the whole week, some people prepare gourmet meals, and everything in between.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Food?
Love, last year was my first time. We packed coolers full of food, steaks veggies, everything. We ended up tossing it all away because we never ate it. Instead, we ate chips when we wanted a snack, wraps with tortillas when we were hungry and water or beer when we were thirsty. Don't load up on food, you probably won't want to eat haha, DO bring snacks though, candy and yummy stuff, you'll work it all off anyway! <3
Welcome!!

K1tten....contrary to popular belief...you reaaly do need more then CANDY! youngin!
Protein rich foods in small quantities. If you eat peanut butter and jelly for 10 days your gonna fall.
And that would be a real pisser to be all dressed up and miss your ride to the party!
Must plan Protein Rich foods to replenish what the desert will rob you blind of!

Whatever happened to Sweet Jane? She lost her sparkle you know she isn't the same. Living on reds, vitamin C and cocaine, all a friend can say is Ain't it a shame?
Okay, that's off the top of my head, I'm not good with lyrics.
Turkey jerky, trail mix and granola bars will fill in the corners of an onthego eating plan. We have ramen noodles for quick hot meals, couscous with raisins and canned chicken for something more substantial. I've done the frozen and reheat deal, but thawing and feeding a herd of cats made it impractical. Cheese and crackers... even the dreadful EZCheez in a can, and pouches of tuna!

Almost a cliché at BM: Tasty Bite
These MRE's (Meal: Ready to Eat) are very good. Leave in the sun or boil a pack, eat out of the container, no mess. But best of all, most of the Tasty Bite products are very tasty. Indian, Thai, rice pilafs (the latter not so great IMO)
Go to their website, sign up for "notices" as every year, about a month or three weeks before BM, they have great sales if you order online.
Not one person in my camp can resist the Bombay Potatoes or the Bengal Lentils.
Beware: although the Trader Joe brand look as if they are exactly the same, some may be but others aren't.
