first-timer, wondering how to connect with theme camp

Post by adamrice » Fri May 29, 2009 10:50 am

I've been talking about going to Burning Man for about 10 years, but I think this really is going to be the year that my wife and I go.

I'd be interested in camping with a theme camp, and not quite sure how to go about connecting.

For my own part, I've been a part of Burning Flipside six times, the fire-procession cat-herder five times, and a theme-camp lead three times. I'm also active in the local firedancing community. So the Austin crowd could vouch for me--or perhaps warn you against me. My wife works as least as hard as I do, and looks better doing it.

Listing of theme camps will be released soon.

Then all hell with break loose. Enjoy the quiet while you can.

You can make limited initial theme camp contact by going to the 2009 Theme Camp threads in the ePlaya Forum Index.

The camps can be fun, but be prepared to work your ass off and pay extra fees to help the camp operate/feed/booze/shower camp mates.

My rec, unless your going with vets, camp on your own and visit a whole bunch of theme camps to get a sense of who they are...then hang with the ones you like this year, camp with them next year.

But whatever ya do, it'll all work out.
Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.
