Substitute for a wide brimmed hat. (mohawk)

Post by Alexkms » Sun May 31, 2009 5:08 pm

What is a good substitute for a wide brimmed hat that would work with a very tall (over a foot long, liberty spikes) mohawk? I could slather my scalp with sunscreen but I'm not sure exactly how effective that would be, and the hat is for shade. Any ideas?

Do they have a blue one?

Haha, those are actually pretty cool but I'd imagine it would get tiring holding it above your head all the time. Maybe I can create some sort of should strap to hold it on for me.

I wonder if it would be possible to take a wide-brimmed hat, cut a slit in it, and poke the mohawk through it? Maybe you could even create some sort of rainbow colored mohawk shaped bag to prevent the sun from coming through the edges of the slit. And you could put lights on it... does covering up the mohawk defeat the purpose of having it?

Yeah it would defeat the purpose of having it. I might do the lights idea though if I can find lights that don't need to be plugged in.

You can get tiny LED battery operated lights, they're made for miniature Christmas villages.

Seriously... you signed up for a desert camping trip, and apparently you're absolutely ignorant wrt sunscreen, hats, umbrellas, hoodies, etc? How much pity do you expect here?

Maybe zinc oxide? (If you can find it, that is. Apparently a lot of the old, non-patentable remedies are getting hard to find.) Anyway, zinc oxide is opaque, and so would keep your scalp from burning.

Hat during the day, mohawk at night?

I'm not signed up, I'm planning years in ahead for the desert camping trip so I could find out more about it before I sign up for anything. What in the world does "wrt" mean? If its a bad misspelling of wear then maybe you should have actually read through the whole post instead of just skipping all the way down and posting. I did suggest sunscreen. I have a mohawk (and yes I know I can take it down, but I really enjoy having it up so I'd prefer to find a way around it) so that rules out hats and hoodies. And umbrellas, they are a good idea but I'd get tired of holding it all the time.

Seriously... you signed up for a forum and obviously don't know how to use one.

Everyone else though: Thank you, I think I'll just get some really good sunscreen and maybe a visor. I'll try wrapping LED lights around my spikes for decoration, I think that would look nice.

chances are good if you are planning 'years' ahead, you won't even have the mohawk any longer. I mean, how long can that fashion statement last?

A good while, I rarely change my haircut. And so far this one has been my favorite, so I'm betting on it lasting for a couple years at the very least.

Alex, enable the bbccode (check boxes below your posts) and your quote function will work.

Just sort out the advice, use what is good and get a chuckle out of what won't work for you.

A visor and sunblock should do it; but do not forget your ears. That's some prime cancer-making skin when it burns.

PM me and I can send you a small set of tiny lights to try. The battery pack is a little bulky, but can be clipped or hidden creatively.

I always bring a bunch of umbrellas. They take a lot of abuse out there.

That and all the bunny blood after you open them up. Just rather moopie I think.

Hey Alexkms, by using your imagination and a dremel I'm sure that you could come up with something cool.
