Hey
Hey
Hey all,
I found out about Burning Man a few years ago in an article in my local paper, It sounded awesome to a fifteen year old (even a fat, anti-sunlight, computer geek fifteen year old). but, alas, my parents were dead set against the idea of going.... and of course would not have allowed me to go on my own (not that I could have) or with someone else.
Now I'm a bit older, have some savings, and some experience with tools, camping, and traveling in general. I'm hoping to go out in the next year or so ('10 or '11) with my girlfriend and a group of our friends depending on our schedules for college.
I've put together a basic idea of what I would want to bring for living and such, but I've found a great bunch of info on here for the other little nuances.
thanks for the great site and the huge amount of firsthand info

Welcome and, whatever else you do, test out your shade structure ahead of time! Also, the playa and a sinus infection don't mix well. Those were my two biggest mistakes. (OTOH, I survived, at an age considerably higher than yours...)

thanks for the responses guys :D
I'm looking at building a geodesic dome, probably a 3v conduit model (thank god for college machine shops :D).
I'm hoping that somebody on here has first hand experience with Type 1 Diabetes on the playa, I've read through the health info, but there isn't all that much info on there.

And a special welcome to you, Frank. I've edited out the urls you tacked onto your posts... no commerce on eplaya is one of the rules and if you keep posting links to commercial venues, I'll report you as a spammer and get you bounced.
If you hadn't taunted me, I'd have chastised you in a private message.
