Playa-friendly recipe exchange...

Post by Shaman-n-KK » Sun May 31, 2009 10:20 am

I found a similar thread last year, and loved all the creative ways to fill dusty tummies! Won't you share a fave recipe?

You can go to the old thread, click the reply button and post "bump." Maybe people will find it easier to respond to something already there, rather than the equivelent of a blank white page.

Screwdriver Smoothie:
Throw some ice in your blender, add ice cream, add orange juice, add champaign, add vodka or liquor of choice, blend till smoothie and pour into tumbler. Add fruit and whipped cream, serve with long straw or shake sippy spoon.

Virgin Screwdriver Smoothie:
Same ingrediants as above except substitute : Tang or Gatorade or OJ or Emergen-C or Electrolyte Stamina, 7 Up for champaign, and no alcohol.

There are lots of good/decent playa-tested recipes to be found if you dig through the old files here.

Keep in mind however, anyone using the prefix of 'Shaman' as part of their nom de playa is subject to massive and intense ridicule by many.

I mean, its like showing up to the Nobel awards sporting a mullet for Dog's sake.

We drink, we smoke, we laugh, we giggle... at you.

If you can cook it at home, you can cook it on the playa. Or better yet, cook it at home, freeze it, and warm it up on the playa. They both work, depending on the dish and your culinary skills. Nothing beats bacon wrapped filet mignon on the grill on the playa--baked potatoes and sour cream--and vegetable of your choice. With Ice Cream for dessert.

Hey, we're a gay camp! Costumes and Cooking. What can I tell you. And I'm the most conservative in the kitchen.

We have one guy that's a caterer and does a complete breakfast buffet once or twice a week depending on how hard he's partied the night before.

I don't usually eat much during the day--coffee for breakfast, then lots of juices and water during the day. Then when it starts to cool off, the appetite returns and after a shower there's nothing better than a home-cooked meal flavored with playa dust as the sun disappears behind the mountains.

Did I say there was anything wrong with Eggs Benedict and Mimosas any time of the night or day? :)
EB:
Poached eggs, on Canadian bacon and English mufffins, with Hollendaise sauce. That can be pretty tricky, but I have found instant H sauce to be acceptable.

I want everyone to know that this would have been my post if I hadn't done the eplaya friendly thing of giving a positive or neutral post for the first reply. Sure, it's hard to beat out Iso, but I just want to say that I stand in her footsteps.

There's always room for someone with wit and a great personality--legs or not. ;) (Don't know about everyday--can I wait to commit on that until we meet each other in person? :) )

Breakfast of Champions!

Canned Rosarita menudo, and a Bloody Mary!

The thing about the menudo is it needs to be simmered, or the Hominey doesn't come out right.
