Wyoming 1 of only 3 states without swine flu

Associated Press - May 26, 2009 5:15 PM ET

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming is 1 of only three states in the nation that hasn't detected a swine flu case.

Wyoming Department of Health spokeswoman Kim Deti (DEE'-teye) said Tuesday the state health lab has tested 252 possible flu samples from around the state. All tested negative for swine flu.

The health department is still asking local doctors to send in samples from anybody who tests positive for flu. Deti says the volume of samples arriving for swine flu testing has slowed down in the past couple of weeks.

Numbers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that Wyoming is the only state in the region that hasn't detected a swine flu case.

The CDC says Alaska and West Virginia also have not detected any swine flu.
